How do we play low pocket pairs (66-22) in LHE at a full-ring table? Everything is extremely situational. However, are we generally dumping them from EP every time unless we're sitting at the loosest of passive tables? What about from the button? There are many times we aren't going to have the odds to go "set-hunting" in LHE. However, these holdings do have some showdown value. Especially against fewer opponents.

For instance, I'm on the button with 44 in $1/2 LHE. UTG raises and CO 3bets. Both players are average players. Both blinds are unknowns. If we do hit our set and one or both villains hit their over cards, how much do we have to gain make our pre-flop call profitable? How often should we just muck pre-flop? If we need 4-5 players to the flop (stated in SSH) then basically we should only play these hands in LP and from the blinds. Thoughts?

Sorry if this has been discussed before, I just couldn't find the exact discussion I was looking for. If I'm not going about this the right way, feel free to call my ass out.

EP, dump them unless the game is super passive.

LP, raise if no one has opened. Limp behind multiple limpers.

When there is a bet and 3bet, with no callers in there, just dump them. You aren't getting odds to mine for a set calling 3 (or 4 if UTG caps) bets in a most likely 3 way pot.

With a small pp you either want to get heads up with initiative, or join the fray in a multiway pot.
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.
