He seemed to be pretty reasonable, yet aggressive and not afraid to value bet. Then this hand happened and adjusted my read a bunch...

Wow, he played it badly, I dont see any scenario in which it is correct for him to raise with trips after you stood pat and bet, if you were bluffing you would have folded to his raise

Agreed. I am by no means an expert 5CD player, but that is absolutely horrible. Raising and reraising with nothing but trips against a pat opponent? Terrible, terrible play. He deserved what he got and nice hand Fnord.

I thought my 3-bet was a little light and certainly would be against a more passive opponent.

Ugh I know the feeling you get when you get capped postdraw with a mediocre boat. You will see AAA22+ so often here..
But of course if your opponent is the type of player that only ONLY pays attention to his own cards, completely oblivoius to what the other players in the hand do then it's another matter all togheter.
