Hi,
First, let me say this is not a bitch/whine-fest. I want to see what other folks are experiencing at .5/1
I've noticed lately as my Pokertracker database gets bigger and I spend more time playing that there really aren't that many really fishy players.
By this I mean that there are lots of fish (more than any other category)in my database but they rarely stick around that long. I find that most of my tables seem to have the following average make-up:
2 TA variants (not making much money from them)
2 SLA variants (little profit also, to me almost a variant of TA, if the table is light on SLA it is usually replaced by more TA variants)
2-3 TPP(mice) (can win small pots from them but beware, if they raise you you better have a strong to monster hand, TPTK isn't going to do it a good portion of the time)
0-1 fish(LPP) (its a field day for anyone playing a hand with them, beware if they play back, TPTK could still be good though, normally though they just call you down with whatever)
1-2 LAP (The Dice Gambloor symbol, not sure how best to handle these guys but again if they start coming over the top they seem to have a hand)
0-x random unknown players or other unlisted category (maniac's, rocks etc...)
Actually, I figured there would be allot more donk-betting, pure bluffing and bad play but I am not seeing allot. Maybe its just a wierd run of cards. More often than not if someone comes over the top of me they have me beat. It is strange but maybe that is a characteristic trait of the Passive/Passive player I just need to adjust for.
When you are looking for table make-up do you try and find tables that are better than this, meaning more LPP etc...which players do you want to have the most of at your table, after LPP of course.
Also, has anyone noticed that they do worse after they started using GameTime+ or Aces HUD? I think maybe I put too much stock in it and found that I actually do significantly better over my limited sample period when I just rely on my gut and turn off the statistics overlay programs. Perhaps I am not sure of how to best use the information gathered.
Random thought, I'm finding TPP's to be some of my most difficult opponents. I guess I need to make more laydowns against them?
I'm still making a decent 2.5BB/100 profit but I constantly seem to find myself moving from table to table because they are filled up with other 'good' players trying to get money from the one fish at the table before he leaves.
I want to find the soft targets and avoid the other good players as much as possible unless I really have a great hand. I really figured the lowest PP limits would be way more easy to crush than this. I'm concerned because I don't know if I can sustain 2.5BB/100 or better when I move up to 2/4 which won't be too long. As far as bankrolling requirements are concerned I already have more than enough roll and a 20,000 hand history of winning at .5/1 so I am not sure it is in my best interest to stay at this level too much longer, but still...if I am having problems finding loose tables at .5/1 then I fear that I'm not ready for 2/4 as I understand half the battle is choosing the right opponents.

It sounds like you are expecting a bit too much from your tables. Just give yourself decent position on two or three LPPs or Maniacs and it doesn't really matter if the rest of the table is all TAGs. It's also really not hard at all to find tables with a few really bad players at 2/4(move up and you'll do just fine).

I find i'm more comfortable with a couple (MAX) TAGs at the table, among the regular LAG/maniacs. That way, when i'm in a pot with these guys I know what to expect, and know that i need a strong hand to beat'em.

Cool, thanks for the feedback. So, this is probably one of my biggest problems. I usually just get on the waitlist for a 8-9 player table and take any available seat. Ideally I guess I'd be watching tables and waiting, trying to get a good seat. Is this the recommended approach then over just finding a table and sitting down? I know it may sound like a silly question but I just don't know how realistic it is to wait for players in seat XYZ to get up so I can sit next to the left of players A and B who may leave 5 minutes after I sit down. Any advice here in the table selection category is MUCH appreciated. It is by far my weakest poker skill. I know when I'm at a good table but sometimes I don't know when I'm at a bad table, ya know what I mean?

This was my original strategy but like I said, lately it seriously seems that I have not been able to find a table that wasn't close to 50% Taggy's. So I am trying to modify my game to account for the fact that I may have allot of TAG's acting before/after me.
