2/4 Live, typical loose as hell table of fish
I get the Q-10 of spades on the button, and when action gets to me, 5 players have already limped in, so I call and the small blind and big blind are also along for the ride to 8-way flop. Flop is 9-J-3. An early position player who is loose as hell (earlier he called a flop bet with 9 high and caught a runner runner flush to crack my aces) bets and I call and 4 of us go to the turn. The turn brings a K and I make my straight. First player checks and I bet. The two players to my left call and the first person now raises. I can't decide how I should have played this situation. I do have the nuts (no flush possible), but surely someone is drawing to beat me. I figure, if I raise, I might drive out the people behind me. I decide to just call, but only one player behind me calls. The river is another 9 pairing the board. The loose as hell guy bets and I raise. The third guy drops out and the loose guy three bets. I call and he shows J-9.
I'm relatively new to limit, so I struggle in situations like this. I think a better line would have been to raise the turn since 2 pair or a set wont fold, and then merely call on the river after the board pairs.

I'd consider a preflop raise with a hand that does well multi-way.
I think you should definitely raise the flop in your position. You want to pump your draw and possibly take a free river card if you need it.
Once you hit your draw you should definitely raise, raise, raise. The pot is big enough that you want to drive people out, or at least make them pay to stay.
River sucks, what can you do? You might just call, figuring if you have the best hand you'll get the overcall, and if not you can't get 3-bet.

I might raise pre-flop, but probably just call.
I probably raise the flop.
Calling the turn sucks. Any way you play this hand you lose a lot of money, move on.

Yeah, In a typical 2/4 B&M Game you're not going to scare anyone with 2 pair away with a 3-bet on the turn. It's STILL just $4. If the game was as loose as you say, chances are that the guy in EP is seeing a lot of flops, and missing most of them. When he flops top 2 pair he was looking for every chance to jam the pot. He figured that if the rest of the table is just going to call his bets, he'll check raise the turn to get more money in. The K didn't help him, but he was waiting for the big bets to really kick it up. He probably didn't notice that it made your straight possible, he was still creaming over his 2 pair. The River 9 sucked, but it happens. You got your money in when you had the best hand.

If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
