I am reading over SSHE by Miller. In the pre-flop section, under the heading "Little Offsuit Broadway", it says...

"Fold all of these hands in early position with the exception of AT and KJ in loose games. In middle position you can play AT and KJ if loose players have limped." (pg. 74)

Above that, he tells us to consider the limpers and if they are tight (limping hands like AQ, AJ, KQ) then we ought not limp with these in middle position.

My question concerns what to do with these hands when there is no limper, i.e. you are first into the pot? Do you then limp, muck or raise a hand like AT or KJ or even QJ or QT from UTG+3 or UTG+4 for instance?

I realize that it will depend on the style and skill level of the players behind you, but is there a "general" rule that you guys use for this circumstance?

Thanks again.

i fold these UTG and +1, but when i'm MP2 and beyond, I raise in hopes of stealing blinds, if not i have a decent hand, but this cannot be said about all tables
