I asked about this last night in the channel, but I don't really remember what everyone said, except for the $5 game is usually really loose.
Does anyone play these SNGs? I think I read someone say on the forum that he didn't like it because after a while, when the blinds get big, he feels forced to play. What do you guys think? Is it good practice for a beginner? Is it easy money?
thanks

I've played the limit SnGs a couple of times on Party. The first time I joined by accident. THe second time I did it on purpose.
It is a small skaes game at the beginning, then the blinds start to increase and it becomes an all-in fest. Just something you have to adjust to. It's very rare to see 1 person take a HUGE lead in the beginning. And if someone does, he rarely pushes the table around and often loses that lead toward the middle of the tournament.

I don't know what they have to say
It makes no difference anyway.
Whatever it is...
I'm against it.

Judging from the number of replies in this thread, I am assuming not many people have played limit SNGs. I played my first two $5 games today, and I placed 2nd place in my first one and 1st place in my second one. If you have read my posts you would know that I'm a poker newbie and these games aren't that hard to beat. I plan to play more and will keep you guys updated on my progress.

Gabe, good luck on that. If you can play those successfully then maybe thats your gig. No one makes fun of a winner. Until then....

You can make $ playing limit SNG's. I personally would find somewhere other than Party to play them though. The players at Stars are too probably too good to make it very profitable.
The problem with Party - the blinds move up way too fast. Try the SNG's at Pacific.

Gabe, are you in Az? I think I may have seen you play.
I have played the limit $5 sng's at stars. They seem ok. The only thing I don't like about them is that there are a lot of loose players. I know loose players are good, but in the 5 dollar sng's I find that if I get sucked out on by a loose call in the higher levels of the sng, I might not be afforded the time to get them (the chips) back with the increasing blinds. The blinds can force you to play a hand you might not normally play if they are big. This is a dilemma because you are not able to compensate for that as well in a limit sng as you can in a NL sng by going all in. Other forum members may refute this comment. In the ring game you can take your time a little more and wait for those really good cards without the blinds eating you up.
I think stars is a good place to learn; it doesn't seem like a good place to make money. That's where I continue my poker education. I have played at party but not only do the blinds increase faster, they have a higher entry fee for a five dollar sng. 5+1 is a rediculously high 20%.

I'm in VA.
On stars, I dont find the blinds a problem at all. By the time they start getting high, a few people had already busted and I had more than enough to compensate for the increainsg blinds.
