In reference to Fnord's last post in this thread.......

Yeah, Fnord, this past couple of weeks are simply killing me. I am definitely feeling the variance affect and am on a bad downswing right now.

The worst part is that the inordinate amount of river beats that I've taken over the past 2 weeks is making me play tentatively and that is just making things worse as I am hesitant to raise my good hands thereby allowing limpers into my pot and attributing to even more bad river beats as a result of my tentativeness (wow that was a long-ass sentence!). It's a viscious circle.

I need to get in the right frame of mind fast and get out of this tentative habit. Gotta get my mind right again.

JMR,

I guess what I'm getting at is that you've been playing 2/4 and 3/6 longer than I have, but I haven't a clue about your game. Being more active with hand discussions, etc. might help you take your game to the next level. I might be an arrogant self-rightous prick, but you gotta admit I play a mean game of Limit Hold'em. Also, over the last few months we've brought a couple players up from the ranks of the fishy to the feared.

Excellent point fnord, although most of the time you're an ass, it sucks you're also right (sometimes).

Although I poke fun, Hyper and Mike have really become dominate players and Gutshot is pretty close if only he'll play more! Hyper also needs to play more and he would do fine.

Gabe has really turned things around in just a matter of three weeks or less, he just needed a change in scenery and some guidance to get started.

Which brings me back to you JM, i've seen you play and you play tight/rock good and you are just going through some cold cards. Spend some more time on IRC, maybe do some bonus whoring at some places to get yourself away from the Party Poker atmosphere, but most of all, dont lose your conscious and dont stop playing. Skim through SSH again, go over some HH, once you start to remember some hands, usually your game will go back.

Its been nice seein you on IRC, maybe next time you should sit on my left and you can take some of Hyper and Mike's money before me next time .

Hahahaha...
Ok now my good laugh for the day is out of the way.

JM
I'm feeling the effects of a downswing and I can say posting hands is a good place to start.

See other peoples opinions of how to play them.

it's not that i don't play tight aggressive. it's just i like playing loose aggressive heads up against you just so i can post a hand history of me beating you with a pair of 3s. of course that kinda backfires when you are false blind stealing....

Hey Fnord - Please don't get me wrong. Like I said before. You and I may not always see eye to eye but that doesn't mean that I don't respect your game.

You are right. I rarely post HH. Not sure why. Just never really have. Perhaps I should start. One thing I know for sure is that I need to do another read of SSH. Gotta get my confidence back because I'm not to proud to say that I have lost it.
