I have read the post explaining BR managment for NL and Tournys. But is there a good rule of thumb for Limit BR?
How much should I have, start with and risk.
My assumptions are. "Please keep in mind I am a NOOB! I have been squashed a couple times for this : - ("
Say I play .50/1 limit tables.
I would need 50xBB, or $50. But If I risk 10% that is only $5. Which puts me at the table with half or less the half what most of the other players have.
Should this be 100xBB?
Thanks again for taking the time to read my beginner questions.
Regards,
Bumper

300BBs is the rule of thumb.
Good Luck.

To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

WOW.
I am no math guru. But I get the picture. It will be a while before I am in a good stance with my BR.
I want to start playing some tournys, but I need to focus on building my BR and repairing the leaks in my game before doing this. I have read a ton of posts on Limit V/S No-limit. And I think limit is the best place to start and build a good game.
At this point I have a theory...
If I can't take my small BR and grow it to a larger one in order to move up. Maybe I am not ready to put more CASH$$$ into someone elses pocket.
So, I will continue to play micro until I can move up. Thanks for the info.

i suggest starting at one of the sites with lower limits. Stars has 0.02/0.04 as its lowest but thats a little too low. Play that until you get the basic stratagy and fix most of your big leaks then move up to 0.05/0.10 when you feel you can play the game. Your bankroll wont need to go up for this but its good practise if you play 10k hands of the lowest limit first just to see if you are a winning player. Then start at 0.05/0.10 and play winning poker at each level until you make 300BB for the next level then move up. 10k hands isnt too long if you play 4 tables at once and you can analyse it as you go with poker tracker which you absolutly HAVE to get.
