Well, my opinion is that in limit holdem, you are not betting that you have the best hand pre-flop (which you can in NL) But you are betting that you will have the best hand after ALL the cards are down.

After the night I lost twice with pocket kings in a limit room, I haven't been back to limit.

It's my goal to get better at all games. Limit holdem, 7 card stud, omaha, etc. But I' still having fun, and I'm not liking limit holdem.
I don't know what they have to say
It makes no difference anyway.
Whatever it is...
I'm against it.

I wouldn't put it that way. I'd say it's a game of value betting and sucking out on people for the right price. It's certainly not a game of making the tough laydown (my biggest weakness.)

You should try the Party .5/1 game. A $100 bankroll might cut it. $200 would be pretty safe. If you can find a "no fold'em" table, it's a blast! 3 and 4 way pots capped pre-flop, value betting flush draws, thin raising, etc.

Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (7 handed) converter

Preflop: Fnord is UTG with A, 5. MP1 posts a blind of $0.75.
Fnord calls, MP1 (poster) checks, MP2 calls, CO calls, Button folds, SB raises, BB folds, Fnord calls, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, CO calls.

Flop: (11.50 SB) 7, T, Q (5 players)
SB checks, Fnord bets, MP1 folds, MP2 calls, CO calls, SB raises, Fnord calls, MP2 calls, CO calls.

Turn: (9.75 BB) A (4 players)
SB bets, Fnord calls, MP2 calls, CO calls.

River: (13.75 BB) 9 (4 players)
SB bets, Fnord calls, MP2 folds, CO calls.

Final Pot: 16.75 BB

Results in white below:
SB shows Ah Qc (two pair, aces and queens).
Fnord shows Ad 5d (flush, ace high).
CO shows 9h Qh (two pair, queens and nines).
Outcome: Fnord wins 16.75 BB.

Limit can be frustrating with respect to getting your overpairs cracked. I posted on here a few days ago a night where I came to a limit table with $200, got all the way down to betting my last $6 on a hand, only to win it all back and leave the table with $202.

In the process of getting down to my last bet I had AA once, KK twice, QQ twice and JJ twice and lost EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE HANDS! That has never happened to me ever, at any level or game type.

So, yes, limit hold 'em can be extremely frustrating which is why you have to be prepared for the variance that you will inevitably experience. However, if you stick to your gameplan and are willing to absorb the swings there is money to be made at limit hold 'em.

I've had similar runs in NLHE, but yeah, they're not quite as common.
