My thought process with the raise on the flop was to see how serious he was about playing out of position. If he bombs a 3bet on me I have an easy fold since the only hand that would do that which I am not ahead of (equity-wise) is some kind of 345x draw. A set of kings or AA+nut flush draw will often make a big 3bet (like I often do).
On the turn I hit a nice card, giving me a second 2nd nut flush draw along with my top pair. He checks and I make a 3/4 pot bet, leaving enough room on the river to fold to a bet if I don't catch 2 pair/flush, but also enough room for him to want to call (assuming he even calls the turn) the river at 3:1 odds. Had the turn been a blank, I have an easy check behind (gotta use that position to your advantage ).
My opponent criticized my play on this hand, telling me my call was awful. He actually didn't play his hand too badly, but I am so-so on his flop call of my raise. All he has is the nut flush draw with an overcard while out of position. The only other card that improves his hand to a good straight draw is a non-diamond 5 or 9. The majority of the time he will be check-folding the turn, and when he hits a flush the action will often go bet/I call if it's small or check/I check behind and only call a small river bet.
