The older I get, the more I start wondering; Just what in the hell is going on here?

Hand 1 I like to just bet, because if the button checks behind (which he will do quite often) then we miss 1-2 bets and give a free card if someone has hearts or spades.
Hand 2 a fold is good against most opponents. SB isn't going to check-3bet without something that beats KK. Having to call 2 cold (and possibly get caped) when we may be drawing very slim (such as against a set) really sucks.

Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

I ask, actually, because I've been tending to auto-bet the flop with anything better than TPTK and then go for a checkraise on the turn. It's worked for me 3 times and bit me in the ass once.
It's like people have learned to autocall the flop continuation bet. So I'm trying to outplay the thinkers.

Yeah cbetting and then feigning weakness by checking the turn can work, but since you are 2nd last to act in that hand betting is probably better unless you have a good read that the button will bet. If you were first or second to act, then going for a check-raise is better since there is a higher chance that people behind you will take a stab at it.
