I'm not much of a limit player, obviously got into poker playing NL tournament home games like a lot of people. Since I turned 21 earlier this month, I've went to the local B&M casino to play twice. The only NL table is 3/5 blinds so I cantplay that. Ive been playing 2/4 Limit, and I am killing that game. Both times I was at a table full of a bunch of loose as hell, "any 2 can win" old guys and some generic fish. I've just been playing TAggy, ABC poker with no complex plays, really focusing on position and betting into weakness. Both times I went (weekdays before noon and into the afternoon) I would say I killed the game. Your good hands WILL get paid off, so its not too bad to wait for cards to b eat them with. In fact, the last time I went, I didnt get that many good cards, but stole a few pots I was in to keep my head above water before I caught some good hands. Overall, I have played 7.5 hours and am winning at a rate of $37.30 an hour. I wouldn't say I am on a rush of cards-- I know I cant maintain this, but I see no reason why I cant keep crushing the game. Any tips/advice for me? I am planning on logging my hours played and my profit to get a good idea how Im doing long term.

What's the rake structure for your $2/4 game? The reason I ask is that in the long run you are going to be running up hill, battling the rake in a $2/4 B&M game where the rake is typically 10% capped at $3. IMHO, you'll have a easier time "crushing the game" if you move up and play a limit where the rake isn't going to eat away at your profits quite so readily (e..g $4/8 with a 10% rake capped at $3). There are still plenty of bad/fishy players at that B&M level too.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but it appears that you actually ARE on a rush of good cards; your sample size is too small to draw conclusion about how much you are beating the game for. You are not going to maintain a 9.3/BB per hour at any LHE stakes.

Yes, logging your results is a must for anyone serious about improving their game. You are on the right track .........

i can only beat super loose limit games, my edge goes way down in tighter games, so I don't even play unless they are real good.
take your ego out of the equation and judge the situation dispassionately

Yeah, I can see how a standard TAggy play at a 2/4 table can seem to work, but keep in mind that those same "Any 2 cards can win" fish are going to be the ones that crack your aces with 94o because they flopped bottom pair and it's cheap to call it down and miraculously pair their kicker on the river. (Although I know that in the long run they are losing) IMHO, Table image has a bigger impact on B&M games too because things don't move as fast, and nobody is multi-tabling. So any player that's half-ass paying attenion will notice that you haven't played a hand in 45 minutes and muck your blinds at the first bet.

I also agree with the rake problems at lower limits. Depending on how many pots you take, you're looking at $8-12 per hour against your winnings. Count in tokes to dealers and cocktail mattresses and it adds up in a hurry.

what he said.

7.5 hours is nothing. That's not even one session for most players. If you think you can maintain ~31BB/100 at a live 2/4 table where the rake is 10% and usually capped at $4, good luck, but it's not going to happen. If you're a tipping guy, then you're screwed even more.

I really wasnt implying I could continue to beat it this handily, I was really just looking for advice. I play on Party Poker, (formerly 25NL, but am switching to 1/2 limit) and am going to try to make a consistent second income on poker. Ive always played semi seriously, but more for fun and with friends. Now that I can play in casinos, I want to get more serious. The only Hold Em the casino offers is 2/4 Limit, 5/10 Limit and 3/5 blinds NL.

Well if you want to do well playing small stakes, online is your best bet. More hands per hour and more tables.

if you really wanna play live, you should move up.
