I read some of the basic stuff on this site and looked at some hand charts and decided I should try limit. It seems like the .5/1 games are extremely soft on poker stars. Does limit tend to be softer or tougher than no limit.

Maybee it's just beginers luck. Maybee it's soft at 1-3 in the mourning pacific time but I made 80 BB over 317 hands. I doubt I could sustain it but the tables seemed exceptionally soft. Calling down lots of second pairs and even complete air. Seems like it is easy to bluff the river if a flush draw comes on the board also.

Limit poker is a game of small edges that must be taken advantage of over and over again. You can't really call it softer or tougher than no-limit.

The one big difference is that making an incorrect decision only once can be quite costly in no-limit, while you won't be felted by a single error in limit. Conversely, you won't win someone else's stack when they make the error in limit either.

When playing limit, it is the small pluses, together with the small bets saved, that make or break you over time.

A sample size of 317 is virtually irrelevant. Look at your win rate over 10,000 hands, and you'll begin to see if you're playing the game well.

Bluffing is a much smaller factor in limit... especially on the river. At that point, the pot is generally too big, relative to the size of the bet, to make bluffing profitable.

However, semi-bluffing, along with raising to take the lead in a hand, are legitimate limit tactics.

My experience has been that all tables are soft at that time.

It has also been that you should enjoy hot streaks while they last, because they do come to an end and it can be long and dry before the next one.

Given that some very good players record break-even stretches of 100,000 hands, it can be VERY long and dry!!
Oh, no! Not another learning experience!
