Preflop: Hero is Button with J , J .
UTG calls, 1 fold, MP1 raises, 2 folds, CO calls, Hero 3-bets, SB calls, 1 fold, UTG calls, MP1 caps, CO folds, Hero calls, SB calls, UTG calls.
Flop: (19 SB) 6 , 3 , 6 (4 players)
SB checks, UTG checks, MP1 bets, Hero calls, SB folds, UTG calls.
Turn: (11 BB) 6 (3 players)
UTG checks, MP1 bets, Hero raises, UTG folds, MP1 3-bets, Hero calls.
River: (17 BB) 2 (2 players)
MP1 bets, Hero calls.
Final Pot: 19 BB
Questions:
1. Should I have raised flop?
2. Was the turn raise spewy, given the preflop raiser's position and range?
3. Or was the river too passive, given my hand?

I find that overpairs are often spewy for me, because i get alot of bets in, even when im facing alot of aggression. Ill throw out what I would do, although its probably incorrect. The line you took is almost identical to the way I play overs, raising on the turn and if i get reraised i realize im generaly beat., then calling on the river because the pots just too big.
1) I would raise the flop, with two people acting afterwards id hope to gain a free card, and eliminate any draws. The flop bet by him is standard no matter waht he holds, and by just calling you still dont know where your at. By hindsight though drawing hands probably wouldnt fold given the pot size.
2) I think the turn is ok, i might just be biased because this is how i generally play overpairs. Is this wrong?
3) I dont think hes bluffing through to the river with overcards by now, and your probably beat but the pot is just too big to fold. Your beat by a 6, a backdoor flush, kings and aces. I dont think a 6 would be in his handrange (although you dindt provide his stats) but his capping preflop i think takes a 6 out of his handrange. Hands that a very aggressive villian could have (in my opinion) that you could beat are: AK , 10-10,99. Thats about it but with that much pressure i think you can only put him on kings or aces.
Thats my analysis, by putting villian on the top two preflop hands...haha......what does everyone else think.

I had him on AA, KK or AK preflop, or possibly QQ. Definitely not a 6, and the lack o
I called flop because of the potsize, and I suspected a c-bet. Turn I raised to see if he had AA or KK. The fact he didn't gave me a bit more hope.
River I called because of pot size and only 3 hands that beat me, though all very possible. I might have raised river, but given he called my turn raise and bet out I decided against it.

I'd raise the flop and call a cap (duh).
Call the turn and river (not raise, and only if you raise the flop), bet if checked to any point. Depending on how tight he is (no stats?), this could be basically any medium pocket pair+, maybe even AK putting you on two lower overs since you only called the flop. When you get 3-bet on the turn he pretty much has to have a pair.

I might have played it exactly the way you did, then in hindsight wished I had raised the flop and called the turn. I think calling the river is required.
bs73, we're trying to learn how to think about our opponents' hands. By the river I'd be expecting AA or KK myself. At these stakes I don't usually see sustained aggression on TT or 99 and I wouldn't expect (say) A6s due to early action.

I agree. He's not folding a better pair that's for sure.
Raising flop still gives UTG 11:1 to call so no chance of folding anything he'd call a single bet for.

Actually I would probably call flop and turn and raise/call river.

Much as I thought. One of those hands where I won (he had TT), but I wasn't sure that I'd played it well.
So because I won, I was wondering if I should have been more aggro on the river. But I was also wondering if I just got away with some weak play and might be learning a bad habit. From the comments, it was both... The only person who played a more retarded game was the villain.
I didn't have stats because I don't have pokertracker. I know, I know, I'm going to buy it, but it would take a big chunk of my bankroll to do it so I've been putting it off.
