As the headline says I've done some reviewing for a colleage. He's just made the jump into 2/4$ full and plays mainly on party. He's style from what I can tell so far is a bit weak tight maybe too much Lee Jones style for instance. So pretty much an ABC'er. I commented on this hand and though I don't think it's close I'd like some comments and a short discussion on the pro's and con's of this preflop play.

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (10 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: student is SB with K, 5.
3 folds, MP1 calls, 2 folds, CO calls, STUDENT folds, BB checks.

I call here all the time and I don't think it's much of a spew since the hand is not going to be all that hard to play postflop. The odds are 6:1 right now, only thing to alternate this would be if BB made a raise. I myself believe it's giving up on a +EV situation by folding this. Anyone who disagrees..?

I fold this hand. If you hit a pair and get any action, you are typically still behind which means you are hoping for 2 pair or better with a hand that has no straight or flush possibilities. Now make that K5s or A5 and I make the call.

Easy fold. Catching second best sucks. Catching second best out of position is expensive.

How horrible are the limpers? For a 1/2 structure I like KTo/K5s or better as default complete.

In a 1/3 structure I'm thinking KJo/KTs or better.

Well this is party 2/4 so could be anything from complete donk to Fnord.

Well couldn't really be you as I think you limp like 0,0001% of your hands.

I just thought that with 6:1 odds it was ok to see a flop here but I've been corrected since everyone is telling me to fold this and get on with my life and poker.

If I had KT / KJ I rasie this... Very bad alone because of my bad position..?

no way i complete with a k5 off in a 1/2 blind structure. At a weak game k10 or better is about right for offsuit hands. And no, dont raise aKT- KJos from the small blind with 2 limpers.....that would be pretty bad IMO. Sounds like u have some blind play issues.

You are very mistaken about my game. I do raise a lot, but almost always with position, to protect position or with a big hand.

This kind of thinking is horribly flawed. Hot/Cold it's probably a call, but you're getting the worst of it post-flop.

I would just complete with AJ/KQ for what it's worth...
