Why not bet on the flop ? As played I have no idea if you are ahead or behind here, guess I would call and be disgusted to see T9

my thinking was the str8 will usually look to CR the flop and it's hard to get called by worse. After I check may two pair gets stubborn or I can get some bluffs.

Str8 may check the flop with an intention to CR, but once it was checked around why would he check-call turn ?

you asked why I did not bet the flop. I bet the turn so I am not sure what your comment means unless it is in regard to the river. FWIW I called.

yep, thats what I meant

BTW I would bet the flop anyhow, K, T pretty much kill your hand, o you have a better chance of extracting value on the flop if you are ahead and getting calls from worse sets or even top two pair

do you give it up if raised? I would bet the flop with nothing but I hated to get raised off this hand. We either have to make a weak call on the flop then give up the turn or 3 bet and pretty much are always in against the str8 if called. Plus if we bet call the flop and the board pairs the straight can give up.

I don't think I get two bets in against top two or a worse set if I bet the flop, but I might get two in on turn and river bricks (again plus bluffs(. Question is whether that value is worth risking a free card for something like QT I guess.

Hmmmm I'd auto-fire the flop, bet/call flop obv. won't be able to fold a club turn.

I think there are a lot of hands that will peel the flop that won't peel the turn.

I would bet call the flop, if villian pots the turn without improvement it is a tough choice but I think you have to fold in this case
