I think most of you guys know that I tend to default to betting when in doubt. But this was just such a great river card, I thought there was a super low chance that I'd whiff on a river checkraise. What do you think?
PokerStars 2/4 Hold'em (6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx
Preflop: Hero is SB with 3 , A.
UTG calls, 1 fold, CO calls, Button raises, Hero calls, BB calls, UTG calls, CO calls.
Flop: (7.50 SB) 9 , 8 , A (5 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG bets, CO calls, Hero calls, BB folds.
Turn: (5.25 BB) A (4 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets, CO calls, Hero raises, UTG calls, CO calls.
River: (11.25 BB) 3 (4 players)
Hero checks...

it's such a good river card that no one with a flush will think it makes a full house. i think you missed bets from anyone who made the flush, as they will probably raise you here, allowing you to 3 bet. check/raising can only tap 2 bets.

very rarely do I try the check/raise on the river. I have to be VERY certain that they are going to bet.

Lead and hope to 3-bet. Lots of hands will raise you that will only call the raise (most aces, wierd flushes) and you ensuring that some hands don't showdown for free.
