I've been playing 1/2 and 2/4 limit hold 'em for a while, and have a good grasp on how to play limit in a full ring game. I want to start learning how to play 6-max, mainly because I want to try out the 35% rakeback FTR offers via battlefield poker, where all the 2/4 tables are 6 max pretty much, and maybe continue to whore out the partypoker skins, where I hear the 6-max games are still pretty soft. so I have a few questions:

1) Is it difficult to multi-table 6-max limit, i.e. paying more attention to players and making read-based plays, and/or using a tighter style not being as profitable?

2) what are some of the biggest adjustments a players has to make between 6-max and full ring limit?

3) any good books to recommend, or online articles or threads here? (besides hypermegachi's sticky)

dont feel like you have to play a hand every orbit in 6max, one round of the blinds isn't going to kill you

if you can't steal the blinds, you're at a disadvantage, but don't make it worse by raising crap hands into players you know will call.

any 2 big cards are open-raise worthy preflop

get used to 3-betting many hands from loose raisers

don't be timid with 77+, these are good hands especially if you can get them heads up

leave the table if a solid aggro player is raising every other hand to your right
take your ego out of the equation and judge the situation dispassionately

Also leave the table if a weak player is calling every hand to your left.
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

Be less inclined to steal with 65s.

I don't think of it as "stealing" as much as a value raise based on your positional advantage

Against blinds who are inclined to defend a lot, play back and go to showdown a lot 65s is a horrible hand to be stealing with.

I would imagine Partypoker has soft games, just like all their others, and I hear from 2+2 that the skins still have some soft 6-max games. I also played some at Doyle's Room last night (2/4 & 3/6) and the competition their seemed pretty soft. I was basically using my full-ring strategy, except loosening my raising requirements, raising/re-raising more with things like 77, AJ0, KJs, etc. and also having an easier time believing hands like TPTK were good.

also, here's a more specific 6-max question: you have a guy to your right who raises quite a bit, like once per orbit. do you think it's a good play to 3-bet with hands like AJo, KQs, or 88/99 to try to isolate him?
