I started playing online at Partypoker .5-1 in January 2005. I was going through some heavy swings and I believe that I was playing a lot passive. I still managed to win 400$ in Jan and was very happy and decided to try 2-4 in a B&M Casino and lost 200$ in 1 night. So back at Party Poker again and trying to up my game in long term.
Then I found you guys at FlopTurnRiver. I already feel that my game has improved somewhat better than before and I have learnt SO MUCH from all of your posts and I plan to visit this site everyday
My problem is that I have difficulty identifying where I am beat and think my TPTK is good or Two pair is good. Also if the board is a little coordinated I chicken out and maybe am missing a lot of bets. Like I said, I have got my work cut out for me. I really appreciate your guidance in this matter.
I am attaching a few hands below, most of which I lost and few I won. I am desperately looking for some guidance to improve my game. thank you so much for your time and efforts.
P.S. - the first 4 hands are from my session in one particular room where me and this other guy got tangled in same pots. He kicked my ass though .

hand 1: this is 0.5/1, not 10/20...don't isolate 3bet with 88. the rest was well played...but you need a read on villian to raise that turn. guess it worked out.
hand 2: call the river, definitely don't cap that river.
hand 3: well played. calling the flop and waiting for a safe turn card to raise is also a good play.
hand 4: well played
hand 5: what's with you and 88? it's not that strong! bet the river and fold to the raise.
hand 6: yeh
hand 7: bet the turn, bet the river
hand 8: fine
hand 9: i don't like the flop call, 3bet or fold. i'm more inclined to say fold here.
hand 10: raise the flop
hand 11: why did you bet the turn here?
hand 12: quit 3betting 88 preflop. wait a minute, this is the same as hand 1!
hand 13: raise the turn.
hand 14: yep
hand 15: i bet the flop here. what's with the call tho? 3bet it if you're gonna check raise. cap the turn.

hypermegachi, Thanks a lot for taking the time to read the history and providing analysis.
I have some further comments. Appreciate your reply if you can.
1) Yes you are correct, I had no read on villain. I dont know what I was thinking
7) Turn completes a flush. River completes 2 straights. I chickened out
10) Can I raise with K-x suited in middle position ?
11) I had four to flush and if a spade falls on the river, i might not get any calls. So i bet the turn since there are already enough people in the pot.
Is that wrong logic?

7) you can't always be afraid of the flush. most of the time no one has a flush. i'd check/call the river tho if a lot of them still call.
10) you must raise to flop to protect your hand. you do have top pair decent kicker! on the turn, with one card to come you're somethin like 4:1 to hit or something like that. anyways, you need 3 or 4 players to call your bet to make your bet profitable.
11) remember, it's different jamming the pot on the flush draw on the flop vs the turn. on the flop you have 2 cards to come, and it's cheaper to push your pot equity. on the turn, it's expensive and you only have 1 card to come, so you need more players in. this hand was close, as you did get 2 players to call (almost the 3rd) and they both paid you off on the river. implied odds kick ass.

hand 2 was an obvious check-call situation. nobody 3bets the turn on a bluff.
hand 7 was weak tight. bet the turn and slow down only if someone raises back at you.
hand 9... you should be ashamed of yourself and you know it. cold calling that flop was extremely loose. look what you sucked out on!!
hand 10, fold or raise that flop. calling is for fish.
hand 11, raise the flop with pair + strong draw.
hand 12 = hand 1??
hand 15, what the hell are you doing slowplaying a mere two pair when there's a flush draw on the board? extremely bad idea.
as for the rest of the hands, i actually liked them all.

This is a must. It turns out SB flopped a set, but it's a blessing when someone bets before you when you hold top pair. You raise to both protect your hand and also to gather information. SB should then reraise. That's when you fold because your kicker is merely decent, your only on a back door draw, and he's indicating more strength than you can handle with what you hold. As it turned out you lost more bets by not looking him up earlier.
Imagine he didn't have the set, but instead an open ended straight draw. You don't want to get porked by two pair on the turn from someone in late position sticking around with Q4. Raise up. The flop round is for information gathering just like preflop. That's because it's cheap. You want to put people on hands before the bet doubles and you find yourself double porked.

It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.
