Whiffed the check-bomb on the flop, then didn't want to give a freebie on the turn. River is a gross card but I'm thinking AKxx would bet the flop (especially as 2nd last to act 6-way).
But really, what can I beat here besides a bluff (virtually impossible for him to have less than trips here) or some weird 22xx/Axxx value bet? No notes on this guy, but it would take a pretty bad player to make the 2nd cold-call of a preflop raise while holding 22xx. I suppose A6xx/A2xx fits the action but I am having a really hard time folding here for some reason. Any thoughts?

without a read, I would stick it all in on the river. if he was a nit, I would check fold. as played, I'd have to fold

doesn't a2/a6 raise turn? Considering other trips have 9ish outs?
This can only be KK/AK or a bluff.

In retrospect I probably should have just pushed the river if I was going to put my money in. Perhaps get a call from AQxx/worse trips. Unfortunately, I called and the villain had AK77.

I think betting this flop is waayyyy better than trying to check/raise.

With almost half the deck out against me (5 players x 4 cards = 20) in a raised pot, I figured surely at least one person would have an ace and bet it. Being out of position, I really like to get it all in and gamble here instead of letting Axxx in position on me have implied odds against me if I just bet straight out.

All the money is going into the pot in 2 bets.
A check/raise all-in might get called by AK, but probably only really gets called by A6.

I don't think this is true. If someone bets this flop with Axxx with all sidecards above a 6, there's a pretty small chance that they fold to my check-raise with the odds they are getting.
Omaha Hi: 820 enumerated boards containing 6s Ac Ad
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
6c Jd Td 6h 474 57.80 346 42.20 0 0.00 0.578
8s Qd Ah Kh 346 42.20 474 57.80 0 0.00 0.422
42% equity is pretty good for the overcard draw, especially considering that a lot people will raise with trips hands that are are in pretty bad shape (ie AK97). In my experience, people almost always aim to get it in on the flop with top trips+2 overcards to the lowest board card.
Maybe I was just a little greedy in wanting to just get it all in on the flop so I wouldn't have to guess if that 9,T,J,Q or K on the turn just gave the villain(s) the nuts.
