Ok i know everyone has different opinions on how many hands you need in your pt database to make it worth while . My question is how many instances of an exact hand does one need to run an anylasis of the hand and get an accurate reading. For example lets say i want to know exactly when j/8 suited is and isn't makeing me money. Would 100 samples of j/8 off suit be enough to get an accurate read?

Somebody posted something similar to my response so maybe they can chime in too. The jist of it is, if you 100 hands of a given combo at a full 10 person ring game, then that is, on average, only 10 instances at each positition. I would think that 10 is too small a sample size for a hand at a position. You could group positions I guess and have 33.3 at each of the 3 general positions (EP, MP, LP).

god, you could play 8 hours a day for a couple years and not really know about a hand like J8s.
Really, about a 1000 at a certain position to start getting an idea, so go play about 2M hands to find out.
