did you think about donking the turn i see that raise on draws for FC all the time once you hit this level (from watching Jeff play)...

3 betting the flop or donking the turn, are both options against a possible FC play

elipsesjeff is an unknown quantity at this point
Whats the problem? He raised for a free card and hit a miracle gutshot over his flush. I would have played it the same as A8 is shitty hand.

He-He I was thinking that but I was also wondering if he considered the guy raising for the FC...

Actually, after he raised I never saw it as a freecard play. I thought, with the SB and BB still able to call, that he wouldn't play a draw that way. Why pay extra to take a draw HU when you are getting the right price multi way.

I thought he might have had KJ, QJs , 1oJs, etc and wanted to see where he was, and cut off the rest of the field. But, I just came off a A1O loss to AJ on a flop with and Ace, so I was also thinking .......not again with a bigger Ace.

Anyway, it was a short-handed table that filled in a little, so it's not a great play 2 off the button with A8os anyway.

When I saw the raise on the flop and check behind on the turn I thought it was for the free card.

So I liked your river bet. I don't think you played this badly at all.

I play this exactly the same including the pf raise and the river bet/call.

The only difference is I will donk bet the turn about 1/3 of the time, depending on my opponent.
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.
