This hand happened on the first orbit after I sat down last night. The game is 8/16 at Hustler. I am on the button with 9c8c.

Player in middle position opens with a raise, gets 2 callers. I call, SB and BB both call as well.

Flop is JcTc2d

SB checks, BB donks, original raiser raises, folds around to me, I 3-bet, SB and BB fold, original raiser 4-bets, I 5-bet (no cap as we are now heads up), he 6-bets, I 7-bet, he 8-bets, I 9-bet, he 10-bets, I 11-bet, he 12-bets, I 13-bet, he 14-bets, I 15-bet, he 16-bets, I 17-bet which puts him all in for his last $2.

He turns over KdKh.

Turn is Qd, river is 6c.

Hero wins $358 pot.

That whole no cap thing does seem a little silly in that situation. Aren't you just allowed to look at each other and say "I'm reraising you until the rest of your chips are in?".

Nice hand btw.

What range you put him on, once he 4 bets flop ?
Against TT+, Ac8c+ your poker stove equity is 47.7%

nh. i think we only worry about a set. we are likely 60/40 over TP/overpair. in a NL game, we dont think twice about felting this on the flop. here it should be no different. ranges dont bother me here. 15+outs twice? felt it!

also, there is a fair amount of dead money in the pot. so, even if you are 50/50, its profitable for you.

actually, i just looked at stove. we are 55/45 over TP/overpair and only a 60/40 dog to sets......with dead money in making it a little less. high variance play, but you get the most out of the money that goes in on the flop, so keep jamming. if you have money left on the turn, i would be a little more cautious about going nuts with this guy because of the equity drop off with only one more card coming.
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!

The dead money is irrelevant. If you are heads up and have equity of 49.9% (with zero fold equity) then every raise reduces your overall EV by a fraction.

Honestly, sinky, fastplay of sets on flops is VERY rare in California live games at this level. Thus, I was actually quite convinced that he had QQ+. MAYBE you can put AJ in there as well. And maybe JTs as well.

Stove that range against my hand. I believe I had an equity advantage. (And you are right by the way, in your discussion with Chopper: when you are going up the ladder as I was doing, you are getting even money on your additional bets. So the threshold for making these additional bets really is 50 percent equity.)
