jen is a calling station, but only 13 hands worth. That's pretty passive, though! Still, hard for me to criticize, won her $2 extra!
Shkura was either a good player with good cards (a little loose, not very aggressive), or a Lagg with terrible cards.

here's the thing with a situation like this (playing against a calling station):
-if they don't have the ace and you bet, they fold. you gain nothing.
-if they do have the ace (with a crappy kicker) and you bet, they call. you lose a big bet.
so unless you have an ace, take the check and hope for the best.
calling stations still give me grief!

i think a more common outcome is that the weakling limps to the river and then calls the showdown with a ten to beat your baby pair. checking is a good idea on such a tiny pot.

Yeah, it was a bad play. I was on autopilot. Since no one had bet, I assumed they (like me) had nothing. Then I forgot that even calling stations will fold to a river bet if they have like, King high. About the only guy who calls me and loses iis the guy with the '3'

I used to make the same mistake, betting the baby pair on the river in position if all streets are checked.
I stopped. Those kind of hands hurt the worst.

Bad players slow play pairs and lots of other stuff.
Don't bet a hand on the river that doesn't beat much more than a bluff. You're better off catching a bluff (although with such a micro-scopic pot I would fold this to a bet) or checking it through.
Glad to see fish + honey nailed this one...
