Im very very new to "poker life" ... actually before exatcly one week i didnt have the slightest idea how poker is playing. My friends and mainly M3lancholy give me a book and suggest me to visit this site and i play with him many many hands in partypoker some hands goes good some goes bad.
Before poker i was a decent gambler and do it for a living almost...
Mainly bet on NBA, NFL , NHL and earn a lot... but i get tired of this "life style". Study the games , study the games , study the games ... then place ur bets .. and of course lucky included.. Thats why i decide to jump to poker..
Well.. when i was a decent gambler someone e-mail me and told me "I bet on the home team and i lose... i bet on the away team and i lose ... i dont know what else to do ..."
So this is how i feel right now in poker...
Any shoulders for me to cry on ?

aww, there there now... every things is going to be alright....
see that ass on the left? just stare at it for a while and you will start feeling better in no time, trust me.

Sounds like you're still pretty new, and when you're at that stage the best learning tool is experience. Just get in there and play some of the free games, or micro-limit stuff, and you will begin to get the feel for when your hand is good or not.

I still cant decide Limited or No limit...
But i think i will keep feed the sharks in limited for some more thousands hands
Yes im really new as i told before and not very patient yet... I play "by the book" and its not easy to fold non-stop for 20-25mins .. u can lose ur patient easy ... I win some .. but .. i lose more

.25-.50 isn't really that small actually. There are other sites with lower limits (Poker Stars and Ultimate Bet i think?) that have .01 - .02 tables. Limit takes a lot more understanding of odds and math, and I think may be a little more advanced than NL.

I suggest getting several thousand hands in in the play money area first before you loose too much more money. I think I played the play money tables (25NL) at party for like 6 months and turned my playmoney "bankroll" into like 10X the original amount before I even considered playing for real money. But the play money tables are ONLY TO LEARN ODDS and get a feel for the game... pay no attention to how your opponents are playing or how much money you win or loose.

Just a little advice...

For limit PS only goes to a min of .02/.04, I played 1500 hands or so at the .05/.10, played about 300 at .02/.04 which that game was almost a waste of time but as a beginner new to poker all together, buy a couple books, such as Small Stakes Holdem or Wining Low Limit Holdem, these two books will move your limit holdem playing from straight horrible to decent enough to win, you'll have to have the experience and fell for the game to take it to the next level...

I have already read twice the "Small Stakes Holdem" and at the moment i re-read it for 3rd.. My friend always complain when he see me "HEY I WANT MY BOOK BACK !" hehe.
The problem is that if u are really intresting to learn something you have tons of informations and its hard to focus and select only the good onces, especially when u are not expirienced.
For example someone told me "if u are only intresting to make money and not learn poker visit www.roboticpoker.com and soon u will be rich"
Another one told me "hire a poker coach like Joe Tall to analyze ur hands or observe u"
Also tons of strategies all around the internet of people who claim they get rich while playing this or the other way...

or do it the cheapest way and post some hand histories, then you can know if you are actually using what you learned in SSH properly...

You know hypermegachi i like u for 2 reasons .. ( even u see my name for first time maybe i was reading ALL the post in this forum .. i just decide to make an account and post just 2 days ago )

1) reason i like u , is because of ur great guide... i print it and read it all the time ( as i said earlier i really want to learn and become a good player , so i try to read , read , read .. i dont want to "learn" by lossing all my money out there )

2) reason is because of that nurse...

PS i will defently post some hands here :P

start off slow, with a beginners book to holdem, teaching you tight and conservative play, until you got that down, move to small stakes holdem by sklansky/malmuth .. read it, love it, breathe it, live it.

thats what i did, and i continue to crush the 2/4 at party poker and UB

better safe than sorry. i briefly visited that site, and the "autofold" is probably bot-like enough to make them "nail yo ass"

if you can't calculate odds for yourself you really shouldn't be playing poker. it really isn't that hard. each out = roughly 2% to hit per street.

heck, have a cheat sheet beside you. after a couple hours of play you'll have all the outs memorized.

get a beginners poker book, it will teach you how to calculate pot odds on your own.

lee jones and lou kreiger have a decent one.

ABC or not, party still has the right to freeze your account.
