So I have a BR of $700 right now. I got tired of playing $2/4. I mean my pocket aces/kings were getting cracked by some smuck playing 6, 8 os and gets 2 pairs or rivers a straight. Well, I started playing $5/10 and at first I was super scared. But once I started winning $100 pots. I was well into before I knew it. But....I started loosing (not because I was playing horrible) This one hand, I flopped the set...and this guy rivered a straight. He even capped the raise on a GUT SHOT draw. Well...I kinda went on tilt after that and got my BR down to $250!! I swear I was about to cry at this point. All the hard work I put into this thing to get my BR up and 2/3 was gone! Well.....I was so desperate, I strated playing $10/20. I won 3 pots and got my BR back upto $620. But man it was so scary...I mean I flopped top 2 pairs, kept betting with 3 callers. Turn was a club and there were 3 clubs out there now!! River...another CLUB! now 4 clubs! and i have 0 clubs! But I just kept betting......This guy check raised me and I knew I was screwed. I was hoping to turn my 2 pairs into a boat to beat someones flush. Well I just called him and won the pot? At this point....I knew how aggressive $10/20 was. Then I folded a whole bunch of hands and raised with my AK and WON the pot with ACE high. Funny thing was that there was a possible straight draw (7 needed) and this guy check raised me on the turn. I knew I was beat. I called. I checked the river, he bet, I called. He had KQ. I won the pot again. There was this $350 pot I could have won if I played my King, 9 but....being $10/20. I was playing super tight. But yea I am NEVER PLAYING $10/20 again.....unless I get my BR up to $5000!! It was soooooo scary! Thank God I got lucky!

You're going to bust your roll in no time at all with your current attitude, and the fact that your current goal is "Im gonna get all of my $ I lost at the casino back" just backs that up.

honestly, i dont understand why some of you guys are dogging me. i lost $ playing blackjack but i know i could win it back at the poker tables. I exactly lost $1500 playing blackjack. My BR is now at $600. If I win just a coule of big pots playing $2/4 or maybe even one pot a day. (Let's say $50 bucks) It would take me less than 3 weeks to get my BR up to $1500. I know I could come up. Some of you guys think I'm fish, I chase my cards, overvalue my cards, play ace, 5 or lower. I do chase cards from time to time but only if I'm on a straight+flush+overcards. I play aggresssive tight, I protect my chips when I odnt have it, get the most of it when i do have it.

I would appreciate it from the bottom of my heart if you give me tips here and there instead of calling me a names blah blah blah.

The best tip you'll receive:

Play 1/2.

straight167 - the concern here is your attitude and bankroll management. One of the cardinal sins of poker is to increase stakes to try to chase losses - this shows serious weakness in your approach to the game - it's one long poker session over the course of your life.

You may have a solid poker game, I don't think the advice here is strategic card playing, but you are playing beyond your means, wanting to cry and getting desperate shows serious lack of control.

I'm sensing that it's just a matter of time before you lose everything.

elipsesjeff gave you good advice. Play $1-2. If you can't afford to lose, don't play. If you want to take the game seriously, and play for serious money, you should take a serious approach - manage your bankroll, manage your self-control, it sounds like you need to develop the other aspects of the game rather than strategy.

Good luck.

You need ideally 300x BB for moving up in LHE

300 x 2 = 600
300 x 4 = 1200

Therefore you should be playing 1/2 with your $700 and can move up once you hit $1200.

If the guy likes to gamble....let him gamble. He's been warned, but no reason to jump him for it. If people didnt take "shots" then the games would be awful and limit pros would be broke. Also if you are willing to reload, then he can play above the bankroll, not 10/20 but maybe 2/4 or 3/6.

Those statements directly contradict each other. Also, I used to make the same cardinal sin with limit... When I lose a lot on lower limits, I convinced myself that moving up in limits would allow me to play against more reasonable people, but in actuality you end up playing against relatively better people. Moving up usually pits you against those who beat the lower limits. You convince yourself that you are guaranteed to win at gambling when nobody has that guarantee. If I could get my bankroll up $900 in 3 weeks I'll think I'm God, but I cannot. It's an unreasonable dream.

I also believe you have a gambling problem. You dropped $1500 on blackjack... how? did you constantly increase your bets until you broke even again? Your biggest mistake is losing a little, then risking more than what you lost to get back that little. Poker is a game of patience, you have unrealistic expectations in the short term.

I play $2/4 on Party skins and I'm doing wonderfully on there. I made an experiment to try $3/6 and I didn't feel comfortable there just yet. About AA/KK being cracked, maybe you are taking them too far and not raising when appropriate. You need to stop playing for a little bit and re-evaluate your game. There have to be some gaping holes in there and you need to know what they are before you tangle with poker again.

Also, you need to go to 1/2, you are playing beyond your limits. I personally don't follow BR management guide letter by letter, but I know where I fit in. It is a good idea to understand the concepts presented in the guide. Your attitude toward the game as guaranteed money is where you fall short. Poker is gambling
