I think that is exactly how I'd have played it. I think it's definately better to leave the chance to raise the turn instead of 3-betting the flop. Then once he 3-bets the turn, you have to call it down and pray that he has either AK or K6 or something instead of the set.

you played it fine.

p.s., the dude with a set is stupid for not betting out the flop on a relatively uncoordinated board. if the board had a 2 flush then check raising is more proper.

eh you played it fine, never know if the guy is just trying to scare you, or he actually has the set. That's just unlucky, top 2 pair against a low set, I had it happen to me in NL the other night, real big loss.
