I know with limit, starting out with a small amount doesn't affect your play. You can always reload at any time, just so you have enough to cover all raises/caps on any given hand. But the question comes as to how you want to appear to your fellow fishies. If I'm going to play agressive/tight, do I want to appear like I'm stealing (with say a big bankroll) and get called, or do I want to seem tight (rockish) and get folded to when I bet/raise?

The basic question is... does what you sit down with have an effect on your oppenents, and if it does, which way is best, less or more?

I would suggest starting out with whatever the normal buy-in is for the poker site. At party poker this would be $50. If you buy-in with too little bankroll you appear weak and if you buy-in with too much bankroll, people are more likely to pay attention to how you are playing.

Make sure you always have at least 12 BB's. It has been my experience that weaker players usually have short stacks in limit. ie. <$20...

The search function on phpBB is pretty screwy, but I found a few old threads, searching "sit down with"

Thx for the replies and Lonnie thx for the great links. I think I'll keep starting with $50 to go unnoticed and refresh at $100 or leave/refresh at $25.

Man I love this site.

elipsesjeff is an unknown quantity at this point
This isnt related to 6 max but lately i've noticted bad players sitting with all sorts of bank rolls. Ive seen some bad players sitting with $600 at their tables while also seeing them with $20. I've noticed good players will buy-in around the usual $90-$100 range, but you cant judge on stack size.

Personally, I dont think they care how much you have in your bank roll nor do they notice. They might say 'wow' as a first glance but after a few rounds they won't notice, they are too focuses on their own hand.
