My table image was tight, but I threw in a couple neuralish EV raises to fix that and the degens are giving me action again. I've been caught speeding a couple times and raising then checking behind.

8/16 1/2 Kill, the most amazing game on the Planet for its stakes.

2 Limpers, I call on the button with . SB never folds and it's 5 to the flop!

$40 - $5 for the California drop + Jackpot.

:Qs:

Blinds check, EP checks, Tight/Passive kid bets. I've never seen him bet less than top pair on the flop without the lead or the button, but misses a crazy amount of turn/river bets. I think about folding, but raise because I would raise here anyway with more limpers and I'm feeling the backdoor flush. Folded to the kid who 3 bets. Fuck, he's never done that. I'm thinking Qx is giving me my damn free river card and better hands are going to trap like all these fuckers like to do against Mr Tricky TAggy. Seriously consider pulling a Tommy, but call because folding here would just be terrible.

Turn: :Qc: $83 in the pot.

He bets, I curse the poker gods. Seriously consider folding, but call anyway while thinking about how I'm going to play a rivered club. Probably raise and fold to his 3 bet. Call.

River: $107 in the pot

He bets and I call because I sucked out on bottom set and I'm not really sold he'd play Qx (except maybe Q9) this way so JT doesn't look like such a long-shot. But deep in my heart I really think he would raise the white flag if my hand was good.

Tell me how bad I suck at poker.

set of 4's?

From your description it seems to make the most sense as his 3-bet on the flop makes no sense otherwise...he'd have raised QQ pre and has to figure you for raising QQ or 99 pre as well with your image.

I'm not sure JT would be 3-betting here unless it's JT or perhaps so given his tight/passive image and the action to here I'd put him on 44 and say you didn't misplay any street.

limp button with that hand, check
raise flop to see if your pair is good, check
call turn with 2 pair, dodgy if you do put him on a Q but have flush draw and pot odds I think so check
crying call on river with second boat when getting 6.5:1, iffy but can't see how you could lay it down there if 44 is more in his range than Qx.

That would be my thought process and it's likely wrong but it at least makes sense in my mind so will be fun to see how close or distant I am from the truth

I think the flop raise is throwing away money. You have a strong read that this player only bets with at least top pair in this spot, you have a hand beaten by top pair and for some reason opt to raise when he isn't folding. I would either just muck on the flop or call and fold the turn unimproved. Having raised and gotten 3-bet, it might be correct to simply fold right there if he's extremely passive and you've never seen him 3-bet a flop like this. On the turn, you're drawing dead a lot of the time, so calling is extremely marginal. Again it might be correct to fold here, but I don't know this guy, so I can't tell.

How big does the pot need to be for my flop raise to be correct?
