Played on Paradise poker .5/1 Euro donkfest. Only a few hands on the villain so far (maybe 50) but he may be a rock sitting on top of the jello that is this table. How many bets do you go hoping he got there with Q8/J8 (I doubt T9 pushes this hard) rather than QQ/88? He started the hand with 25 BB/big bets.

Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

well, lets look at this. your read is that he is probably rocky. so, we dont want to take this too far against a player that isnt likely to 6bet w/o the nuts.
so, looking at his range, you say 9T is out. you are worried about QQ/88 = 4 combos that beat you. you are ahead of Q8/J8 = 12 combos. so, you are 3:1 over the range you can pin him on.
to me, it really comes down to when you think he HAS to have you beat and you push him exactly that far. i may take this 5, 6, 7 bets or so, but i am not going too far past that. certainly the more passive players are going to just call us to end it before that point.
if he were shorter, say 6 or 7 left, i would push this all the way. the shorter players get, the wider they tend to give action w/o the nut hands, imo.

I raised once more, then called down. Sure enough he had 88.
After a few more orbits he was indeed an uber rock (very rare on this network), and I don't think he ever calls with Q8/J8 in the SB preflop. Having known that in this hand I could have stopped a few bets sooner :P
