You have a high pocket pair, raise preflop and get a few callers. The flop comes with one overcard(A or K) and 2 uncoordinated under cards. You bet the flop and get one caller....The turn pairs the high undercard. The fact that your opponent called the flop leads you to believe that he has something and you are now beat by both top and middle pair. Do you still bet out the turn? What about the river if he calls a turn bet? Here is sort of a recent example.
Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (10 handed) converter
Preflop: Hero is UTG+2 with T , T .
2 folds, Hero raises, 3 folds, CO calls, 1 fold, SB calls, 1 fold.
Flop: (7 SB) 9 , 8 , K (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, CO calls, SB folds.
Turn: (4.50 BB) 9 (2 players)
Hero bets, CO calls.
River: (6.50 BB) 7 (2 players)
Hero checks, CO checks.
Final Pot: 6.50 BB

If CO is passive, bet the river and fold to a raise.

I would not fear the King, as CO should have raised post-flop if he paired kings. I would not fear trip 9's on the turn for the same reason - no raise.
If I was going to check the river (with the intent of calling), It would be because of the 7, not the 9.
Looks like he has Ax (maybe A8) or is drawing to the str8.
PS. You say the undercards are not coordinated, but they look so to me.

So you bet the river even knowing that he is almost definately not going to call with a hand that you have beat, but is definately going to call or raise with a hand that has you beat? This might be the one area of my game that I play weak poker in then. And I said that was "sort of" an example of what I was talking about. I couldn't find a hand history that was exactly what I wanted.

You're seriously under-estimating how often he calls with a worse hand.

I probably am. I am always amazed by how bad a lot of people seem to play. So, bet against a passive player, but would you say to check it to an aggressive player to give him a chance to bluff at the pot?

Yup, although you might also want to consider a check/fold vs some players. To check/call you need to know your opponent is often going to either check behind with a better hand or bluff a worse hand.
