PokerRoom 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (9 handed)
Preflop: Hero is Button with Q , J .
UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, 2 folds, MP3 calls, 1 fold, Hero calls, SB completes, BB checks.
Flop: (6 SB) 8 , Q , 9 (6 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, UTG+1 checks, MP3 bets, Hero raises, SB folds, BB folds, UTG calls, UTG+1 folds, MP3 3-bets, Hero calls, UTG calls.
Turn: (7.50 BB) K (3 players)
UTG checks, MP3 bets, Hero calls, UTG calls.
River: (10.50 BB) 5 (3 players)
UTG checks, MP3 bets $0.4 (All-In), Hero calls, UTG calls.
Final Pot: 12.90 BB
---
I'm looking for comments on the play preflop and postflop.
No real reads - except MP3 had only about 2 BB and was very shortstacked - so I thought he might have just been going with one hand for his entire stack.
Was it right to call the 3-bet on the flop with TPGK?
Thanks in advance.

Can you think of a reason *not* to call the flop 3 bet after you have raised? Ever?

To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

No, but do you continue calling down if you don't improve on the turn?

To answer the original post..
I have a question -- what is the point of a read if you don't trust it?
You thought the guy was just pushing his last 2bb in. I'd say youre right about 90% of the time.
You played fine. I call down a guy that short stacked just about every time.

Especially not in this exact hand...Hero has TPGK with an enormous amount of outs...4 to the str8 2 to trips 3 to top2 and also 1.5 for the weak back door flush...Then once you call you are getting too good of odds to call the turn and river...Especially with his .4 bet on the river LMAO...call down every time.

Superb play sir...I always call 20% of my stack off with a gutshot draw. Excuse me while I race for my wallet.
