Villian is decent, especially by the standard of these tourneys($20 Buy-in FTP). Half way thru tourney, near the chip lead. No specific reads on his stud play. I'm relatively new to stud. Comments anywhere, specifically on 5th street & later?

I think I go into check-call mode once he pairs the door card

That was my plan until I caught a J on 5th street, which mean he has to have the case Jack in the hole to have trips. I think he calls the raise w/ almost all his holdings. Spewy?
When he 3-balls me tho I have to put the brakes on again I think.
Spenda - Betting on 7th definitely feels too thin since he completes in EP if he does have two pair its probably not Jacks & Fours. No? And I doubt he'll fold a better hand than mine? Altho some people in this thing were calling down w/ one pair hands

i agree if you are getting bet into the whole way then i would just check call being that you have an over pair to the JJ and if he only have two pair then you are most likely good.

why ?
You have the bring in which is lower then your pair, a completer with a J which is often something like 3 high or 3 to str8 or worse, and all other cards are lower

I like the call pre. I'm also not especially scared of the case J. I agree about calling down until we catch our J, but from there, I think it's very likely we can get value from him. In fact, I'm inclined to bet both 6th and 7th.
I have an especially hard time believing he could have us beat and check 7th, so as played, I agree with Spenda: this has to be a bet.

What does "pre" mean?
Calling on 3rd street is fine since your hand is completely live and he may be stealing or semi-stealing. If he steals a lot (this would be a reasonable spot for him to attempt a steal since his doorcard is live and the remaining doorcards to act are mostly dead), you might consider reraising. I'd call 4th as well. The raise on 5th is pretty good after catching the third J, and it's a clear call after getting 3-bet since you're drawing totally live and he could be overplaying two pair. The river is definitely a bet since it's look very much like he was in fact overplaying two pair.

"Pre" was my late-night, possibly-typed-too-quickly way of saying 3rd street.

I love the call on 3rd; there's nothing scary out there and your hand is a very well-disguised two pair. Given the door cards he'd likely raise with a lot of hands that do not include a pair.

horse is one oy my facvorite games to play and i have been successful at it as i have played alot and have just now started to become okay at it.
it really is a good game and it is always limit so you dont have to worry about the all in donkeys to much as it does take alot of patience and a long time playing to get it down to a comfortable ability for new players to play.
anyway thats my 2 cents on it.

Villain was high on board and checked to him on the river.
