I think I might have made the wrong move at three points here. Went ahead and bolded them with my personal thoughts.

Sweddad posted the small blind - $0.02
zxqv8 posted the big blind - $0.05

** Dealing card to zxqv8: 7 of Hearts, 9 of Spades

hulkparis folded
croatie folded
mhb222 called - $0.05
Tortue33 called - $0.05
maitreced folded
Pathunter called - $0.05
krappgame folded
SebraOne folded
Sweddad called - $0.05
zxqv8 checked

** Dealing the flop: 8 of Diamonds, 10 of Clubs, 8 of Spades

Sweddad checked
zxqv8 bet - $0.05 I saw the draw here, but maybe it wasn't strong enough to bet on?
mhb222 called - $0.05
Tortue33 called - $0.05
Pathunter called - $0.05
Sweddad folded

** Dealing the turn: 7 of Diamonds

zxqv8 checked Again, lack of confidence in my draw.
mhb222 checked
Tortue33 bet - $0.10
Pathunter folded
zxqv8 folded I buckled right as I saw the bet, fearing my draw was weak.
mhb222 called - $0.10

** Dealing the river: Jack of Clubs

mhb222 checked
Tortue33 bet - $0.10
mhb222 called - $0.10
Tortue33 shows: 4 of Hearts, 8 of Hearts
mhb222 mucks:
Tortue33 wins $0.79 from the main pot

End of game 819076187

When I tossed the hand I didn't figure that the jack would land, and even if it landed I didn't figure I'd have the strongest hand. Just a bad read on my part?

elipsesjeff is an unknown quantity at this point
Pot is big enough to justify the call and since you're still getting 1/5 you'll hit your straight and win more often than you have odds to justify. Yes, you will lose this sometimes, but not nearly as much as you think.

I see this crap at the casino in the 10/20 game all the time and I laugh my ass off everytime too.

Love the flop bet.
Dont mind the turn check.
Hate the turn fold.

Except for not knowing when you have odds to continue your draw, you played fine. You need to learn roughly what odds you need for different draws to continue. Usually, it is wrong to fold any flush or OESD for one bet in limit unless it is HU or the pot is unusually small. Usually it is correct to call 2 bets with a flush draw or OESD.
