4-8 B&M holdem.

Hand 1: Hero is 9-9 in the big blind.
UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, CO calls, Button raises, SB folds, Hero calls, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, CO calls.

Flop: 9-7-5 2 suited board.
Button bets, Hero calls, UTG+1 calls, MP2 calls

Turn: 9-7-5-A (no flush completed)
Hero bets, MP2 raises, Button calls, Hero 3 bets, MP2 calls, Button calls.

River: 9-7-5-A-3 (no flush completed)
Hero bets, MP2 calls, Button calls.

MP2 shows AA for 3 Aces
Button shows KK

MP2 wins the pot.

I never put MP2 on AA since the pot was raised preflop but not by him. I thought I was for sure taking down this pot. got overconfident and reraised and bet the river.

I did play it right from turn onwards i think. any comments ??

--------------------------------------------------------------
Hand 2:
UTG is a maniac. he will relentlessly bet till the river after his prefllop raise even if he has ace high. he has been called down by 2 other players with medium pairs, ace high, bottom pairs and they all won.

Preflop: Hero is J-10s in BB
UTG raises, MP1 calls, CO calls, Button calls, Hero calls

Flop: K-J-8
UTG bets, Hero calls.

Turn: K-J-8-4
Hero announces "I got a pair. bet if you got to bet, i will call down".
UTG checks, Hero checks.

River: K-J-8-4-K
UTG bets, UTG says " dont call..you are beat.".
Hero assumes UTG is being friendly with him and we were friendly in the game so far. Hero folds.

UTG smirks and takes the pot and throws the card into the muck.

MORAL: I AM A F**** IDIOT. someone please KICK ME.

this incident pretty much ruined the evening for me. got 2 good hands in succession, made a rack and left the casino.

Granted I am the ONLY idiot who would fall that stupid trick..theoretically, How do you guys deal with it if someone plays you like that ?

Yeah, I would almost never smooth call that flop in a B&M game. Usually by then there is a collective *sigh* when I say "I raise." If I'm not running good they will call with all sorts of crap due to "pot odds."

BTW, I really ought to talk about the fishy/gambler notion of "pot odds" and how it might make some plays make sense.

First hand, I would play it the exact same. And then make a mental notes that the guy with aces fears monsters (6-8 for the straight maybe?) under his bed..

I've been doing a lot of thinking about table image and tells lately. I hardly ever talk durring a hand I am in, and 99.9% of the times I do, it won't be telling my opponent what to do. I'd rather let him keep making his mistakes without a second though about any kind of strategy.

Like in this hand here.. If he is going to spew chips each street after leading preflop, I will let him keep spewing if I have a hand worth calling. I probably wouldn't even raise the flop against him for fear he would fold his crappy ace and lose me money..
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

Why did you say this and then check behind the turn? This strongly suggests that you are on a draw. Given that, why did you then fold the river?

I'm sincerely asking. I'd like to know your train of thought.

I play B&M almost exclusively, and I take NOTHING that is said at the table at face value. Normally I don't participate in conversation about what I have , or had the last hand. I also don't call out what's on the board, or tell another player that I'm in a hand with what I have, or what I think they have. (True or False) - It's all BS. Most of the time I don't even bother looking at the other players in the pot I'm fighting for, nonetheless talk to them until the hand is over. Yes, table buddies happen, especially when you sit next to someone for a couple hours. But really, you're all there to have a good time, play good cards, and take money from the other players, right?

How do I deal with it? Just play your game. Ignore the table talk and do what you'd do. You got a hand, it's heads up, he bet. Would you normally fold a decent pot for one BB on the River?
If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

Not that kind of sigh. More like the "why is this twerp fucking up our loose/passive game" kind of sigh.

LOL @ Fnord. Yes....you worded it perfectly
"More like the "why is this twerp fucking up our loose/passive game" kind of sigh".....

I get the comments like:
* You havent even seen the flop yet. Your Aces are no good.
* With all the raising and reraising on my low cards will win because all big cards are out.
* Why are you raising. didnt you lose 2 pots a few hands back by raising and having your kings cracked.

good point KoolMoe. I must admit, I did put him on the King in a hurry when i folded and especially when he told me not to call as he was saving me money....."sometimes people tell other people to not call and then show them the hand....kinda like that".... IDIOT THINKING purely on my part. If he did have the king i doubt he would have checked the turn. anyways, lesson learned.

Here is another dude (different guy, different table) who pulled this crap on me one night.

I raise from Button with 10-10.

Flop: 3-6-8
Hero bets, dude raises (ie a check raise), hero calls.

Turn: 3-6-8-3
Dude bets, Hero folds.

Dude laughs out loud, high fives with the gorgeous brunette sitting next to him, and shows her the card....Q-3o. says "I knew the 3 was coming".

idiot check raised me with a pair of 3s.

I did feel like an idiot. but still glad made that fold.

CLOBBERED that idiot rest of the night (making aces full of kings over his 2 pair and value betting whole way, straight over his bottom pair, trips over his middle pair...etc etc)
