Took my first proper shot at 10/20 SHLE tonight (about 500 hands 2-tabling) and wow was it scary! Slightly underolled for it IMO (around the 10k mark) but I allowed myself 40bb ($800) to give it a go.
I ended up about $400 up for the mini-session so around the (unsustainable) 3bb/100 mark but it was one hell of a swingy ride.
After about 200 hands I suddenly realised:
-That maniac in the corner is not a maniac
-That fish in the corner isnt a fish
- All of a sudden my level of aggression is considered "average" (I'm usually much more aggro than alot of the 5/10 players I've played)
This is by far the biggest step up I've ever come across in terms of skill and agression levels and was wondering how difficult others found he transition?
I've never played full-ring holdem before (but have read alot of theory on it), Do you think I would be better off learning full ring before taking my next shot so I can be more of a nit next time I give 10/20 a try?

So nobody here has ever moved from 5/10 SH to 10/20 SH before? lol
FWIW after being a super-lucky bastard whilst doing my weekly casino whoring last night my roll is now 13.5k and I plan on moving up for good after re-reading HPFAP and getting another 10k hands or so in at 5/10.

Highest I got was 5/10 and got pizzowned.
ElipsesJeff, Fnord, Euphoricism all played that high, they should chime in soon. From what I've read/heard it's a big jump in aggression, but that's back when the games were good, I cannot imagine how tough 10/20 is now.

To be honest, that worrys me.
It was only a month ago I was watching one of your 3/6 6max videos and thinking "this shit is awesome" and now I'm looking at moving to 10/20! I'm pretty damn sure alot of the lower stakes players on this forum are alot better me.
I must just pwn game selection

On a cruise ship as a complete newbie I played 3/6. They were all fish so I wasn't entirely over my head and I was also lucky to not get any good second-best hands. The profits became my online bankroll where I'm just moving up to .10/.20.

I played a couple thousand hands of 10/20 back when the games were different, but I was underbankrolled and didnt stay. The 10/20 games were filled with SIGNIFICANTLY worse players than the 5/10 games, but again this was back when we were still playing on Party.
So not much I can say. Jeff played a lot of 10/20, but it was at party too - its a different beast now.

I have found more donks per capita on the 10/20 and 15/30 tables than on the 3/6 tables, which always seem to have a pretty intimidating shark/fish ratio... on both PS and FTP.
In general though, I have found that while the good players are better and more aggressive as you move up in limits, the dead money is still always there to be had. Its really simply a matter of bankroll management. If a brutal session that comes along and puts a 40-80 BB hole in your pocket is going to kill your roll, then you shouldn't be playing at that limit. Its as simple as that.

Strange you should say this as also I found the 5/10 tables much fishier than the 3/6 tables (and my winrates prove it) - perhaps fish just like round numbers??
So you play upto 15/30 on stars? I'm guessing you are probably much more experienced / better than me as I tend to play much softer sites. How long have you been playing up there and what kind of BR requirements are you using? I personally think that I'm gonna need around 800BB at these levels.

Again with the more donks at higher levels.. hmmm.
OK - so does anyone have any experience of 10/20 games that are not softer than 3/6 ?

I don't sit at a 15/30 table unless I see it running pretty loose (25%+ seeing the flop). Usually when I do sit at one of these tables, there are are at least 2 playing LOOPY.
As to my BR, its not 800BB's for 15/30 play, but it is sufficient.
