hand 1: cap it. at most it's just a 1BB mistake.

hand 2: i play it the same

hand 3: openraise or fold. the rest is fine.

hand 4: yucky river...fold to the raise.

-------------

"Hero calls $4.26 (All-in)"

don't buy in short.

1) I was gonna fold - figured the str8s had hit. But then I figured ahh, table image, you guys would get mad at a fold, blah blah blah. So I grabbed the ankles and called, and bam the guy had 7J. I showed and said nh.

2) Same guy, this time he had Q6 os. Blam.

3) Same fricking guy - this time he actually had a hand - 67 spades so he backdoored the str8.

Now I'm on tilt so I played a JK hand horribly when the board was AAJT. I raised a turn bet and the guy behind me called me down with AK.

4) Which led to the last hand. Where sorry I'm not folding for my last $4.26 to a runner runner flush (but yes thats what he had - 3J diamonds)

My questions were:

1) can I fold Hand 1 like I wanted to? Or -EV in the long run?

2) Correct to grab ankles on river raise in Hand 2 - or fold?

3) Again correct to grab ankles and call, even though I know he caught the str8 - some guys might make a stab at a bluff here?

4) Meh - I'll play that the same.

Hand 1: I play the same, it's fairly close to being a cap because your opponents cannot 5-bet. Folding would be terrible, seriously don't fold!

Hand 2: Looks good.

Hand 3: Raise or fold this preflop, calling is the worst option and definitely -EV. Post-flop looks good.

Hand 4: I'd probably fold the river, too many hands beat you. Make sure you always have 12BBs in front of you before each hand.

In answer to your questions - don't fold decent hands on the river in large pots for one bet. Your hand only has to be good a fraction of the time to show a profit on a call.

The only reason I said I'd play hand 4 the same is because an unsealable leak for me is my last 5-10 bucks at a table. If I hit top pair - I put em all in even if I'm beat.

Thanks for the reassurance. Newbies need it.

I'm curious why you say that K4s from MP is raise or fold. I'm assuming it's because Hero is opening the betting?

If there were a few limpers ahead of Hero, would you consider calling, or would you still maintain that it's a raise or fold situation?

Maybe you've just helped me find a small leak in my game.

K4s is a really speculative hand, it should only be limped if you can be sure you'll see the flop multiway for one bet in decent position and be up against loose passive opponents.

If you open-limp K4s one of the button you're probably going to see the flop 2 handed maybe for 2 bets. That really sucks for this hand if you're not the PFR. Therefore it's a fold here unless you think you can steal the blinds (I'd probably raise).

In this example the table is 5 handed so I'd probably never limp it even after other limpers. But I'll over-limp K4s at a full table in good position as long as the table meets the conditions I mentioned above.

Hope this helps.

Edit: It's actually pretty bad play to limp any hand here. If it's folded to you in middle or late position it's raise or fold most of the time.
