Why no river bet in the first hand? Did you think he got sexy?

That was going to be my next question if I actually missed a bet or is checking good here.

I would add KQ to hand 1 (though I think 99-JJ is more likely here)
and add the naked Ac to hand 2.
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

In Hand 1 his line SCREAMS AK, or at least a pair of Kings. He had 88.

Hand 2: He had 77, no club.

Hand 1 doesn't look like a king because then he'd probably 3-bet the flop

Um.. no.
It doesn't look like AK because he checked the river. Up until that point it is perfect play for AK given the preflop and flop action.
Why would you 3 bet the flop vs a player who capped cold preflop and raised your flop bet? Your opponent can see that there is a king on the board as well as you can.

More specifically what range of hands caps from the button cold?
Then of that range, which raise this flop?
How does AK fare against this possible range?

the turn donk bet is pretty consistent with AK not wanting the turn to get checked through.
bet/call... bet/call... check/call is a standard line.

However when jeff just called the turn bet, the line should change to
bet/call... bet... bet

It is the lack of the river bet that makes this look like a pocket pair<KK
