If you think you're up against blind defense, should you play even more aggressive? I've found at this level EVERYONE attempts blind steals and EVERYONE knows it and will not accept that someone in late position actually has a good hand. So does this mean I really need to turn it up and cap it when the blinds raise me back? What about missed hands? Do I even bother betting the flop with missed hands, knowing that people will call or raise with any pair since I'm obviously stealing?

hand 1: I think I played this too passively. His preflop 3 bet kind of scared me. Normally I wouldn't cap with AQo, but do you think it's needed to show him I'm serious? Also I'm thinking I should have 3 bet this one on the flop. Comments?

Preflop: Hero is SB with A, Q.
7 folds, Hero raises, BB 3-bets, Hero calls.

Flop: (6 SB) Q, 9, 4 (2 players)
Hero bets, BB raises, Hero calls.

Turn: (5 BB) 2 (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets, Hero calls.

River: (7 BB) 9 (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 9 BB

Hand 2: I don't know if you consider this blind defense, but the check raise here is interesting. I really like my 3 bet to his check raise, but the turn is just bleh. I think this player went for the check raise because the preflop raiser will often bet with nothing and he didn't want me getting away with it. I think this shows some of the aggression that was lacking in hand 1.

hand 1: 3bet and lead the turn, call down if raised. (i wouldn't cap preflop...you have bad position)
hand 2: looks good.

Since in a blind war the average 3-betting range is much wider and players are much more aggressive you must play a lot looser and more aggressive yourself.

I wouldn't cap preflop in the first hand since you're out of postition but I might consider it if I was on the button. Post-flop your play was too passive even for a non blind war, easy flop 3-bet. BB's preflop 3-bet does not necessarily mean a good hand since you open-raised from the SB. He'll definitely be playing more aggressive and you have flopped a good hand, take advantage of it.

I like the second hand.

First hand, if you're checking the turn you sure as hell doing it because you're check-raising, because you're NOT slowplaying here and you're most likely ahead.

an article on cardplayer recommended 3-betting just about any hand if you intend on playing it against a likely steal

1. you can take control of the hand
2. higher chance villian will fold if he doesnt flop anything
3. it tells him, step off my blinds bitch

If you're the small blind I agree, because you want the BB leaving dead money in the pot. As the big blind quite often I'll check/raise any piece of the board or just because the last 2 digits of my bankroll match...
