I'm going to attempt to clear the FTP bonus rather quickly (faster than it could be done at the stakes I'm playing, NL10) and I was wondering if this strategy was legitimate.
http://www.lowlimitholdem.com/sc/mai...g_strategy.htm
It seems limit is better than NL to clear a bonus, but I don't know how to go about it in the best way (for speed terms, strictly.) I'll be giving up a lot of value with more marginal hands, but when I do play a pot it should be big.
Thoughts? Tips?

Think of it logically. Playing 3.5% of your hands means in 100 hands (10 rounds) you will be losing 7.5BB in blinds. Think you'll make that back in the 3-4 hands you do play? That is assuming you win the hand and get any action on it.
Fixed limit is all about those small edges on marginal hands. When people see you are playing 3.5% of your hands, they will be quick to get out of you way when you are in a pot.
In short, yes you can play very tight and do alright with bonuses. But you need to throw at the very least AJ, AQ, KQ, 77-99 into the mix. Plus some more hands AT, QJs+ 55+ in late position.

Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

I figured this was too tight of a game. I have been doing essentially what you said, and added the upper end of each positional range, but I'm probably still going to be tighter than normal.

this is the opposite of limit strategy! in limit, you max out your marginals because you cant take a whole stack with your sets.
and, i would check the date and credibility of the person who wrote the article. games are a bit tougher these days. the glory days of chris moneymaker and the poker boom are long gone. 1/2 limit used to play like 25/50c does today, imo. games are more aggressive. players are stealing more blinds. and, players are more aggressive post flop, too.
if you take such a tight game to the limits where you can actually clear a bonus, you wont ever last. your big hands just cant pay off enough to compensate all the value you are giving away in the blinds and with marginal, 2nd pair type hands.
this doesnt even mention the STRUCTURE of the bonus you will be clearing. a lot of sites are "contributed rake" these days...not "dealt." this would further hinder your chances, as you would never be in a pot to contribute to the rake.

Thanks. I've already decided against it for many reasons.
