For several reasons, I'm switching to LHE for the time being. I have a few questions starting out though, for anyone who's been playing for a while:

I plan on starting at Party's .5/1 tables with 300 BB. Is this adequate, or should I leave more room for more swings?

Is the rake at this level on Party too high to make the game worth getting into? I've heard very bad things about Party's rake at 1/2.

Is limit really a lot swingier than NL? Frankly, I don't understand that concept.

I just got a copy of PokerTracker, but I don't understand the term "datamining." What is "datamining?"

Are Party's tables at this level the best on the web? I played 0.5/1 exclusively for about 3 weeks on FullTilt and ran around 4.5 BB/100 according to PokerTracker. Can I expect a better, looser game at Party?

I have a pretty solid LHE game at the lower level I'd say, pretty basic stuff, just playing position and putting money in with odds or a made hand. Is the optimal strategy at this low level to quad-table and play ABC rock?

I know, all these are vast generalizations and I sound like a total n00b, but I want to get an idea of what I'm getting into. Please share any advice you might have for me before I dive in (read: BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE AND I HAVE TO BECOME A BLACKJACK ROUNDER).

300bb is adequate given the weak competition.
rake does such at party's 1/2. play at another site.
swings are higher in limit vs NL when you take into account the winrate/variance ratio.
datamining is leaving party+skins logged on and with tables open...the software will still generate hand histories which you can import.
yes party is very soft.
and yes, basic ABC strategy is a good place to start.

Party has several different poker sites that are identical to party except with different names/graphics. They share the same tables, so if you're on table 56789 on Party, youre also on 56789 on Empire, Eurobet, and a few others.
