im such a noob here, but im gonna at least get an idea of this game. correct me if im ever wrong, i know f all about this game.

wheres the gamble? you have a good starting hand. flop overpair with a FD then turn gives you 2 pair and FD.

overpair + non-nut fd in PLO = jack shit. top 2 pair/FD is at least playable... it's a gamble because he might have villian drawing thin, or villian drawing to 15+ outs (straight draws, flush draws, 57/7T), hero might be drawing to 13 outs, or hero might be drawing dead (say KKAXs), or at least thin.

Raising a typical player on this flop is big time spew.

Against this guy my flush outs are almost always good as his range is wide and he's playing lots of cards with hangers and not much nut value.

You'll understand when your QhQs5h9s hits a Ts4s2d flop and I thought just like you "OVERPAIR + FD!". Proceed to raise the flop, get reraised all in and the guy has KsKdAsJc.

It's happened to me at least 3 times. I think I'm learning slowly that my hand is only good if I have a read

Top Set
The Nuts
Lots of Outs to the Nuts or semi-Nuts

Those are pretty much the only hands you want to play for stacks with.

Marginal stuff is like:
Middle Set
Top 2 pair
Few outs to the nuts

Then we get into sucker hands like bottom set, worse 2 pairs, TPK, draws to stuff other than the nuts.

Of course all of this changes when someone is playing LAgg or wants to commit to AAxx too early.

This would have been a great post for me like 2 days ago. I stacked off 2 hands in a row with top 2 on the flop, both times villain (different both times) had top set. Since I now have that leak plugged time to move on to more complex ideas ...
