15/30 at Hollywood Park. I had 8s8d in the CO.
4 limpers in front of me, I call, Button calls, SB folds, BB checks.
Flop is QcTs8c
Checks to me, I check, having observed that the Button tries to steal the pot every time on the flop with a bet when it is checked around to him on the Button. Button bets, 2 callers, I raise, all 3 players call.
Turn is 9c
Everyone checks.
River is Kc
Everyone checks.
The hands that were shown down were:
KsJs
Jh7h
8s8d (mine)
2c2d
2c2d took down the pot with the flush.

Wow. Interesting to see play like this happens at 15/30 at Hollywood Park.

That's how winners play; we convince the other guy he's making all the right moves.

pretty sick.
however, are you sure the c/r was correct on such a draw heavy flop? would it have been better to just lead out and hope btn tries to isolate with a raise, then 3bet him? you guys only forced the field to call one bet at a time. with both str8 and flush draws out, i think i would have rather taken my shot at them calling two cold, if possible, even with my redraw to the boat.
btn would have to be quite the moron to attempt a steal on this flop. but, with a paired hand, he may try to protect. and, he may overplay draws...not realizing he doesnt want to thin a field. these overaggro players, imo, are just that dumb.

LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.
Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!

I think in retrospect you are probably right. My read was Btn was stealing every flop when he was last to act. And I was trying to protect my hand, in the hope that (at the very least) with the c/r I would end up inducing someone to fold.
Once they all called, I suspected someone had me beat. And then the turn and river produced so many draws that I figured someone was going to call if I bet.
That all said, I wonder if there was, in fact, no way for me to win this pot with my 8's no matter what, given what the other players had and how the board turned out.
