i havent had the chance to play a lot for a few months. but, last night was a ton of fun. here's why...
i ran into a total fish last night at cake. i finally found FOUR tables at my level. there was a good bit of volume last night. so, i jumped on. the tables collapsed pretty quick, as it was already 11pm. but, i had two HU going.
one guy thought he knew it all when i loosened up on him and went ultra lag. he was bitching that i was hitting miracles and only played a couple legit hands....the rest i sucked on. i started taunting the hell out of him. and, at 50c, i took about $20 off him over the next half hour. he was clueless about how lightly you have to call down and play back in a HU situation. i knew almost exactly where i stood 90% of the time because he didnt really open up his range that much. and, of course, mine was wide open. if i had the button, i was playing anything sooted, anything connected, anything broadway that could hit a straight, any Q, any K, and of course, any A. thats a wide range. T3? if it was sooted. 94? if it was sooted. J4? if it was sooted, i raised.
i 3bet him several times with Ahi and just dragged the pot all the way to the river, playing my Ahi. god forbid, i hit the A. he went ballistic when i hit two pair with my A5s after 3betting. i hit the 5 on the flop, and he had QQ. he barreled, i called with my 5 outs on a draw heavy board. he hit the turn, i called again because he could be semibluffing. i spike the A on the river, and i check/raise. he thinks i am bluffng and 3bets me. i cap and drag the pot. he goes nuts telling me i'm a fish for playing the 5 that way and i got lucky on the river. i told him i though he would play AK the same way, so i called him down. (i actually did think that i had him completely coolered when the A hit, and that i was ahead the whole way.)
i just started telling him to read a book and learn HU play. he got incredibly pissed and when the table went back to 4-handed, and i tightened back up, he had just changed gears to HU, sort of, and got slaughtered again. i stopped bluffing because i was trying to get reads on the new guys and didnt know if they were stations or not. and, besides, you dont bet Ahi for value on the river in a 4 handed pot....lol. it is so much fun when you have a HUGE edge post flop on a guy that thinks his shit dont stink.

LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.
Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!
