Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (7 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx
Preflop: Hero is UTG with 9 , 9 .
Hero calls, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, 1 fold, Button calls, 1 fold, BB checks.
Flop: (5.50 SB) 7 , 9 , K (5 players)
BB bets, Hero calls, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, Button calls.
Turn: (4.75 BB) Q (4 players)
BB bets, Hero calls, MP1 calls, Button calls.
River: (8.75 BB) T (4 players)
BB bets, Hero calls, MP1 folds, Button calls.
Final Pot: 11.75 BB
Man, I really need to play sets better.
Anyway, with no flush threat on the flop and with someone betting into me, I smooth called to keep the pot active.
Same for the turn as it looked pretty benign.
Terrible card for me on the river-- I thought someone might've been holding a J (maybe KJ, JT, J9, J7). So I didn't raise.
Do you raise the flop? The turn?

that is by far the most passive play of a set I have ever seen. I am more inclined to raise the turn. You have to call the river because the scare card completed both straight draws.

You have to raise this turn. Any time a card can come that puts 4 cards to a straight on the board, you have got to raise. A T or J on the river in this brings the 4 card straight, so it is a big mistake to let people stay in for cheap. Even if the board wasn't so dangerous, I would raise the turn. There are very few situations where it is better to wait for the river to raise(especially when it's multiway).

The advice I got is when there are two cards to a broadway on the board, you need to start raising because someone might have a straight draw
but here it's worse since there's also the nine that completes the king high straight
raise turn
raising the flop may or may not be a good play since you're missing out on the BB betting the turn. It's a perfect situation to raise since everyone else has to call a double bet

Yeah , this was terrible on my part. MP1 had J9, BB had Kx. Normally I do get active on the turn with a set and no flush possibility but I failed to recognize the threat the Q brought and with two callers behind I picked the wrong time to get cute.
I've really got to take a break from playing for a while. All the bonuses this month have extended me too far and fatigue is starting to set in. I accidentally folded middle two pair in a 11BB pot on the river (I thought I only had one pair and didn't realize my mistake until I had clicked fold). This belongs in the other thread, but when you start making boneheaded decisions-- that's when it's time to quit.

Loosie goosy 4/8 game. For some freakish reason it's folded to me in the CO. I raise AA (first and so far the only time I've seen it at the Commerce.) Weak/tight button calls. Loose but somewhat aggro SB calls, BB refuses to fold. 4 to a flop of Kxx. I bet every street and am called on a pretty boring board ( I think it paired at one point.) Button flips KK at showdown.
