Default firing when only better calls..

villain is obv passive. i thought about raising pre, but his pfr was 0. and, through 45 hands, he has a 0 AF, too. my guess is that this is a bad bet, as i just dont think this bet has any value. does worse call? this is such a hard habit to break.

    Turn: (1.0 BB, 2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, SB folds

Weird, usually people this passive are also calling far too many bets. I'd bet the flop and hope you were up against a calling station (obviously that wasn't the case here though).

    bet the flop, he'll call
after he called the flop he'll call the turn

but if you wait until the turn you'll be betting the pot and that is one scary bet

    Yeah just bet the flop.

Even if only a better hand will call, it's still good to bet because you prevent hands from drawing for free to beat you. Any Ax, Qx, Tx hand has numerous outs to beat us on the river if a non-pairing high card comes.

sorry guys. i meant the question to be for the river bet. i have no idea why i didnt bet the flop. (like i said in my "op," i am playing some super low, pointless stakes to find some no foldem games in a readiness prep for some 3/6 live play in a couple weeks. so, if wondering why i am playing for pennies, thats why...not that i play a lot higher.)

    but...

lol. you mean like this for calling down too much, too. another with a 0 AF thru 53 hands...

you bet the flop to draw thin value from middle pair
sounds much better than "protecting" your hand

Hand 1) Bet the flop. He will call with 9x, 6x or maybe anything and you don't want to give a free card to Qx, Kx, Ax.

Bet the turn as well. He'll still call with 9x, 6x, and chances are you have the best hand.

You don't need the nuts HU to bet for value.
