So I’m just wondering what's the biggest down swing you guys have taken and over how long was it... an example would be something like -100 in a week... I just trying to figure out what the fucking hell is going on, it normal or am I just missing something about poker... I know I make mistakes but I don't think that has totally cased my down swing... ohh the example is not my downswing I’m just wondering...

What game/stakes, how many hands and how much are you down?

Because I play different limits, different games and have taken shots about all I can say is that I've run over -100BB and my record for a day is just shy of -$1500

I play 0.5/1, I have had a real rough week or two, I’m not sure if I’m just plan bad or getting bad beated, or a combination of both, my swing is at -210bb now after tonight... I went from up +110bb to -100bb (bonus padded the roll but still lost all of that I was up basically $200 in profit and bonuses), and now I’m down $10 into the initial roll... I don't really like talking about this because I fell like a fucking idiot... since the downswing started (including first day) I have played about 2300 hands...

My record for a day is probably 60-75 BB and the most I've lost is about $1200.

Any idea what went wrong?

Stuff to look for:

Cold cards: Count the occurances of AA/KK/QQ/AK vs expected
Blind return value: Bad run of blind hands?
Premium hand performance: Big pairs getting cracked? AK missing? Sets cracked?

That'll give you a feel for the luck part of it. Then mix that with looking for leaks...

Up $850 in about 5 days (85BB) and then down $1600 in the next 4 days (160BB).

...if you're too good of a player for the stakes. For those trying to aquire the skills + roll for the 2/4 game it could be explained by variance.

Yes I have poker tracker (played almost 7900 hands at party skins and like 8600 if I add in stars),
this is where I got my number from and I filtered out cold calls past two days all were pp or suited cards in big pots, I think I need to figure out why I can't win before I’m willing to step foot into a 2/4 game... I know that I tilted a little of the swing, not huge but a little, played a few hands to loose, I’m just looking to analyze my play here and figure out where my leaks are...

Interesting thing is if I just show stars number I’m +50shbb, I take that out to see pp it’s all bad it shows -100bb over all… I find this kina interesting since from what I have heard and seen pokerstars has a tighter game even at the 0.5/1 level?

PS I calculated my swing at pp only, didn't have the stars number included... and "lousy .5/1 game" ment the shity players...

Posting a Quad Ace hand feels good, but does nothing to make you a better player

my typical day to day variance is around 20BB to 30BB + or -

the biggest ever was 100BB in 4 hours, none of my hands would connect with the flop, it was like a horror movie, starring me.

the next day i was able to swing that back... and now im back to my typical up and down 20 to 30 BB

This is my first post here. I thought I would post about my current downswing, if only to make you feel a little better about yours.

2 months ago: Deposit $100 into UB. Play .25/.50 limit. Play like a complete n00b. Lose all except $5. Play microlimit for a week and contemplate why I lost while waiting for my next pay day. Easy answer: saw too many flops, and called too much.

1 month ago: Deposit another $100 into UB. Play .25/.50 limit. Play much tighter (approx 30% of flops including blinds), play my good hands aggressively, fold the cruddy ones. Moved up to .5/1 when I reached $200-$250. End of the month I'm up to $340. I withdraw $200 to Neteller so that I can make a new deposit the next time UB has a redeposit bonus.

Starting with the 1st of May I have now had 8 days of straight losses. I've lost $270 (down to $70), which is a down swing of 270BB. I haven't added any more to my bankroll this month, and I won't until I can work out where the leak is.

I don't believe that I am playing any different to the way that I played for all of the preceding month. I don't believe that I'm tilting. I don't sit down at the table without expecting to win. I believe that I play my good hands aggressively, and that I get away from most of my not so good hands. I feel that I am taking more than my fair share of really crappy beats from hands that have no right to be played. But that can't account for the downswing, I must have a major leak^H^H^H^Hhaemorrhage in my game somewhere.

I plan on taking a break for a week or so, think about my game, and run the whole lot through PT once I buy a license for it.

I will come back. When I get home from work, I'll post some histories up for you guys to dissect.

To the OP: Stick with it, you'll bounce back. There is always someone worse off than you. Make sure that you find them and get them to pay for your poker education.

I had around 100bb downsizing, while 4 tabling 3/6 for around 8 hours.
My flop % was 17.85, my winning % was 4.83% (pretty miserable).

In a little over 10k hands, on party 2-4, i have a winning % of 8.89,
and my premium hands (AA KK JJ AK AQ QK) have a winning % of 54.4.
Considering my flop % of 21.1 (a little high, but im working that out, droping to 18.5 on the last 4k hands) are this stats regular ?

that comes with a warning, I am a newbie too and working to fix a lot of my leaks.

In my first 3 weeks, I was down to about -100 bb. I had a lot of leaks, such as coldcalling with broadway offsuit cards (AJo, KQo, KJo) etc. I was ramming and jamming my TPTK even after being raised in the turn. I am trying to get rid of these two habits fast. I am not saying you have these habits but if you do, you will be well served to abandon those.

I went from -80BB to -6BB in two days over 400 hands. You will get your share of +ve variance time to time. Main thing is to watch out for leaks when you are going through your downswing.
