B&M 3-6:

Hand 1: Hero is UTG with Q-Q suit not important.

Preflop: hero raises, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, CO calls, Button calls, BB calls.

Flop: 6-7-2
BB checks, Hero bets, MP1 folds, MP2 calls, CO calls, Button calls, BB calls.

Turn: 6-7-2-6 (bb check raises)
BB checks, Hero bets, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, CO folds, Button calls, BB raises, Hero calls, button folds.

River: 6-7-2-6-6
Hero checks, BB bets, Hero raises, BB 3 bets, Hero calls

BB shows 6-7 for quad 6s.

------------------
Hand 2: I got spooked by UTG+2 raise since he cracked my QQ a few hands back in hand 1 with trips improved to quads. Was it too weak to fold JJ here. I cant just call that, Ihad to 3 bet it if i had to play it and call it down from there maybe. was it worth 2.5 BB to call down from there

Hero is MP1 with JJ

Preflop: UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 calls, Hero raises, MP1 calls, CO calls, Button calls, SB calls, BB calls.

Flop: 8-8-4 rainbow.
UTG+1 bets, UTg+2 raises, Hero folds, MP1 folds, CO folds, Button folds, SB folds, BB folds.

Turn: 8-8-4-K
UTG+1 checks, UTG+2 bets, UTG+1 calls.

River: 8-8-4-K-8
UTG+1 checks, UTG+2 bets, UTG+1 calls.

UTG+1 has A-J
UTG+2 has Q-4
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Hand 3: Party Poker 1-2

I pay him off here right

Hero is 3-3 in MP2

Preflop: UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, Hero calls, CO calls, Button calls.

Flop: 2-3-4 rainbow
MP1 bets, Hero raises, CO calls, Button calls, MP1 3 bets, Hero calls, CO calls, Button calls

Turn: 2-3-4-9
MP1 bets, Hero raises, CO calls, MP1 3 bets, Hero caps

River: 2-3-4-9-J
MP1 checks, Hero bets, MP1 raises, Hero calls.

MP1 shows 9-9 for set of 9
-------------------------------------------------------------

I am going through a horrible swing. Have lost 90 BB in 3-6, 30 BB in 2-4 and 140 BB in 1-2 (party) in just last 9 days. I have lost with set over set (improved or unimproved to full house) these past 9 days so many times I am spooked every time i get a set

Question 1: How long does a downswing last ?
Question 2: Should I move down to 0.5-1 at party and play a loooot of hands so i can get past this downswing and back to winning ways again ? or just stick it out at 1-2 ? I am definitely not playing 2-4 or 3-6 at B&M until i come back to 2-3 consecutive winning sessions. I have had NO winning sessions in past 9 days. UNREAL. My all time B&M poker winnings down from 1500$ to 800 just in 9 day playing 3-6 and 2-4.

Hand 1 & 3 I play the same. Hand 2 if I have reads and can put UTG+1 on a low pocket pair or something like KQ or AT, and UTG+2 on the same or 4x, I raise the flop and proceed cautiously from there. With lack of reads, or different reads, I probably fold too.

Concentrate on playing good poker, not on how big your downswing is. Keeping your mind away from the results is most important when the results are ugly. Concentrating on your downswing will only lead to loss of confidence and/or tilt.

As far as game theory goes, there is no reason this strategy would make sense (assuming you have the roll for 1-2 still, and assuming your typical game is a winning game).

Pyschologically, if you need to move down a limit to avoid playing on tilt at your regular limit, then go for it. Otherwise, just stick to what you are used to.

That's ~200BB losing session. That's far from unheard of. It happens to us all. Just stick it out and don't lose confidence or self-control.

$800 is probably too low to be playing 2/4 now, so I'd stick to 1/2 party until your roll (and confidence level) is large enough to go back to 2/4 b&m.

in B&M games you'll need a bigger edge to take down pots, especially in the really loose games. It's good to see a lot of flops with pps and connectors, but get out once you don't flop anything.
take your ego out of the equation and judge the situation dispassionately

Hand 1. Fine
Hand 2. at a minimum, call it down with an overpair and a paired board. If UTG+2 had trip 8's, most small stakes players will go for the checkraise
Hand 3. Fine, MP was lucky

[Question 1: How long does a downswing last ?]
Depends on how may hands you play. 3 tabling my worst is about 10 days.

[Should I move down to 0.5-1 at party...]
It may be a good idea to get your confidence back. Also, I am sure this has been posted before, but the rake has to be killing you at the online/B&M stakes you are playing.

Ltrain, Yes the rake is very high at 2-4 and 3-6. However, for the past 3 months and especially for the past 1 month I was still winning @ 1.5 BB/hour at B&M. so that wasnt too bad. But ever since the downswing started, no winning session yet and every time i am losing minimum 1 rack or more.

I will move down to 0.5-1 and try to 2 table my way out (while playing correctly of course. )

Based on my live 3/6 experience, the river check raise in hand 1 is pretty bad.

On the turn, assuming the average 3/6 player, you are obviously up against 77, 22 or a hand with a 6. 22 will often check behind, and everything else beats you.

I'd probably just check and make a crying call.

<edit>Looking at hand 2, I think your play in hand 1 is really not all that bad. This guy is much more aggressive than the run-of-the mill 3-6 player. </edit>

always pay off quads
hand 2: 3-bet the flop
it's the perfect flop for a pair since there are much less hands that hit
and if someone has trips or even full house, you STILL have two outs to beat them
pair of fours is definitely betting here, but you have pair of fours beat
hand 3: pay it off

I am sure your move down will be very brief; good luck. Since you are a regular player, you probably know you are better than your results dictate but once you start running bad, it is easy to second guess or alter your play. Review some of your losing hands on PT, and you will likely see you have been beaten by ridiculous draws and it will help you regain your confidence. Also read the "Newbee Circle of Death" sticky in the Beginners Circle section. It will make you feel better.

Hand 1: he said he had a 6 on the turn. Did you have a good reason not to believe him? call the river and save $12.
