I just sat down so I really don't have a read on anyone at the table
Paradise Poker Hold'em (10 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx
Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with A , K .
1 fold, Hero raises, 3 folds, MP3 calls, 1 fold, Button calls, 2 folds.
Flop: (7.40 SB) J , J , 8 (3 players)
Hero bets, MP3 calls, Button raises, Hero folds, MP3 calls.
Turn: (6.20 BB) T (2 players)
MP3 checks, Button checks.
River: (6.20 BB) A (2 players)
MP3 checks, Button bets, MP3 calls.
Final Pot: 8.20 BB
I've played mostly NL up to this point and I'm still getting use to not being able to knock people out with the right sized bet

Sometimes I call off the flop raise with AK as to not give the players i can be pushed out with a flop raise. Button likely has a J in this spot though.

I disagree that button has a J usually. I think he has a jack sometimes, but usually waits to raise the turn with a J.
I think button usually has a pair < jacks here. That still doesn't make the fold horrible, but I usually call.
To the OP:
Would you have still posted this hand had the A not come on the river?
You can not play a results oriented game of poker, and expect to reach the higher levels.

To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

I'd call the flop raise. You don't want to come across as someone who can be forced to fold a marginal hand if faced with a reraise. Even fish pay attention to actions like that.
Your opponent could have an 8, a pocket pair below jacks, or (less likely) a flush draw.
Afterwards, I'd check the turn and see what happens.

Looking back on this hand. Button could could be cold calling a weak suited A, but without knowing the stakes, the reasoning behind this might be flawed.

Just curious-- in a NL game, what would your line be? 1/2 pot bet the flop, then fold to a re-raise or check/fold the turn?
My (limit micro-stakes) take on this is to play it the way the OP did. I'm not surprised to see someone show AJ, KJ, QJ, JT here. These are the types of flops that I've learned to get away from (I've got no hand and a thin draw where my outs are likely counterfeited); i.e. I'd turn my A or K and the button would fold and MP3 would raise and turn over KJ/AJ.

The problem with your thinking is, you now have better odds to call the raise than you did to bet in the first place. You were getting 7-1 to bet but 12-1 to call the raise; you've got to call is or you lose in TLR.
