So, I'm looking over my Poker Tracker stats and I have come to the conclusion that the day of week that I play has more of an influence on how much I win than any other factor in the game. Position? Nope. Playing tight-aggressive poker? Not even close. Playing on Friday night instead of Thursday afternoon? Bingo.

Since getting Poker Tracker, I have made $469 profit on Fridays at a rate of 8.69BB/100. Saturday, $349 profit at 3.23BB/100. Sunday, $439 profit at 3.69BB/100. Monday, $180 at 1.17BB/100. Now is where it gets ugly. Tuesdays, ($364) at (4.26)BB/100. Wednesdays, ($149) at (2.12)BB/100. Thursdays, ($499) at (4.05)BB/100.

Does anybody else have stats anywhere near these? Are the players that much better on Tuesdays and Thursdays than on the weekends? Could it be some sort of hole in my game only during the week that for some reason isn't there on weekends? All of these stats are for at least fairly large sample sizes of a few thousand hands. It's gotten to the point where I think I have to just never play on a Tuesday or Thursday again.

Tuesday is the only day of the week I am a net loser on. I don't think this is a coincidence.

Thought I was losing on Tuesdays, but I have made a recovery since the last time I checked. It is still my worst day. These are results at .05/.10, .25/.50,.50/1.00, and 1/2 limit games since October 1.

i find it extremely difficult to win on mondays and tuesdays. or any weekday during the daytime before the fish get home from work. seems like the only ones playing during daylight hours are college students or other people who have nothing to do but work on their super-tight super-aggressive game against each other. it is particularly bad at UB where i usually play; the 25/50 cent game feels like $3/$6 at the taj mahal! but as 7 p.m. hits the various u.s. time zones, the games progressively loosen up.

the original poster's point is dead-on. table selection is perhaps the #1 factor in determining your profitability, not your specific skills. mike caro has always emphasized this undervalued concept, and i agree 100%.

as an update to my last post... for whatever weird reason, this month i have only been able to play seriously on tuesday afternoons. despite my deep reservations about this particular time slot (based on past bad experiences), i was actually able to find some loose 0.25/0.50 tables (at UB!) and grind out a good 5 BB/hr. so maybe i should retract what i said about tuesdays begin a bad day to play.
